Filtered and carbonated bottle.
Sunburst is brewed using floor malted Maris Otter barley and a blend of Cascade, styrian and Challenger hops. The result is a refreshing crisp beer of considerable depth with a fine hoppy aroma.

My Bottom Line:
This Golden Ale’s superb malt profile takes you into the very center of a kernel, as hops play around with verbena oil allusions and wooden lengths.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam lingers atop the clear golden.
-Dark Star brewers are brilliant with malt flavor definition. This is a ’simple’ Golden Ale and its malt are as three-dimensional and revealing as many brews with twice the alcohol, twice the number of malts, etc.
-The mouthfeel is comforting. Not too dry, but certainly not too sweet either.
-The flavor polished is very polished.
-Malts also share nut skin angles.

Bottle.

Served in a snifter from a 500ml bottle. Pours clear golden colour with a medium white head. Aroma is grass, caramel, hey, floral. Taste is grass, tangerine, grapefruit, short dry bitter finish. Medium body with medium carbonation. Nice and refreshing brew.

Bottle. Golden with a white foam. Aromas are sweet zesty lemon, apricot and grapefruit with sweet, addictive hops. Flavours are equally hoppy and fruity with more grapefruit bitterness. Quite light in the malts department but no worry. Dry and bitter on the finish. This was supposed to last one hour - its gone in the time it took to write this.

Bottle. Begins with a nice garden hop bouquet mellowed by slight fruit tones and finishes with a slight bitter tone. Overall, its pretty well balanced with the mix of hops stealing the show. I love those cascades.

Now Dark Star Hop Head on cask (preferably at the Butcher’s Arms in Herne, Kent) is in my top 5 favourite session bitters of all time. The rest of the Dark Star range is good but not something I would search out. So, to the Sunburst... Smells like proper beer i.e. cask - bottle beer just isn’t proper beer imo. Good mouthfeel, not too fizzy. This is a juicy beer; lots of fruit salad and grassy lemon and lime rind flavours. Nice citrus rind and hay finish. A tasty beer, and in a bottle - well I never.

Bottle from Morrisons. Pours clear light gold, very little head. Initial aroma has a maltiness to it, with light fruit, elderflower? Sharp bite of bitterness fades slowly to a more mellow but tongue-coating bitter aftertaste. Grapefruit. Good beer from a great brewery.

A very pleasant drink. Grapefruit and orange, with a honey aftertaste. A summery drink as per description.

Bottle. Pours clear pale golden with a big very white head. Complex hoppy nose- citrus is the main impression, grapefruit, lime and oranges. Malty flavours initially, countered by good bitterness.Citrus prevails also in the mouth. Dry finish. Quite fluffy texture. Way above average golden ale.

My first Dark Star experience, found at the LCBO in a 500ml brown bottle. Pours a clean golden colour with a frothy white head, decent retention and soapy lace. Aromas of sweet fruits (oranges, peaches) mixed with grain and honey. The taste is not as sweet, thankful. Quite mild actually, with a nice blend of biscuit malt and hops. Not too bitter and not long lasting. Just refreshing, but not a swill. A pretty good overall well-brewed golden ale.

Bottle: Poured a bright golden color ale with a large foamy head with OK retention and some light lacing. Aroma of fresh citrusy hops is very enticing with light floral and semi-sweet malt. Taste is also an interesting mix between some citrusy notes with a very light bitterness and loads of floral undertones; semi-sweet malt base is well incorporated in the mix. Body is average with good carbonation. Well brewed and interesting beer in a style that doesn’t necessarily produces it lots of complex beer.
