Cask at the Gallowe Bird Public House. Fresh hops in the smell with a coffylike malty body. The off white head with big bubbbles lasts long. Refreshing mouthfeel and a good thirst quencher. One of the hoppiest stouts I’ve had. Brilliant. Leighton (21839) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 24, 2011
Cask at CPK. Pours light brown with a subtle, off-white head. Mild dark malts on the nose, some roast. Flavor is lightly sweet with faint sugars and moderate roasted malts. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Dry finish with touches of burnt wood and charred malts. Alright beer. evergreen0199 (3441) - Northwood, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 8, 2010

Cask. Quite much a pitch black coloured beer with beigeish brown foamy head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is roasted malts, along with some mild liquorice, fruits and berries. Flavour is roasted malts, some slight smoked wet wood, liquorice and mild berryish notes. Semidry palate. bobinlondon (1297) - Harrow, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 1, 2010
UPDATED: JAN 2, 2010 Hand pulled cask at The Speaker, Westminster. Almost black with a thick beige creamy collar. Dry flavour profile with roasted grains, subtle coffee, dark chocolate and just enough bittering hops in the finish. An extremely quaffable stout. Cask, can’t remember where, 26th Nov 09, with tashi. Dark brown body with a diminishing off-white head. Moderately malty aroma with hints of plum. Reasonably sweet on the tongue, definite chocolate malt. Slightly oily finish. Rather one-dimensional and I would expect better from Dark Star. downender (8729) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - DEC 19, 2009
Cask-conditioned at the Old Fountain, Old Street, London 17/12/09. Jet black with a thin but tight, off-white head. Roasty aroma with a touch of chocolate. Flavour had more of the same, plus some liquorice and long bitter finish. Great drinking.
