rauchbier (3882) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - FEB 14, 2007
Bottle, from Tesco. Gold, thin but lasting white head and moderate condition. Initial piney hop and gapefruity citrus notes in the nose but becoming sweet and honeyed, solid spicy earthiness in the mouth with a gentle citrus hoppiness and a balancing sweetness. Earthy bitter finish with some remaining honey sweetness.

Golden color. Nice aroma, with hop and honey. Dry mouthfell, some malt, toffee, strong bitterness, quite good hopping.
A Mes rate:
Reasonably impressed with this. Being endorsed by Tesco is hardly a passport to greatness but it’s not bad at all. Creamy aroma with coriander and honey. Decent golden body but what little head there was died in seconds. Flavour is really rather good. Hoppy and floral as you would expect but there are dusky citric notes too. Big dump of hops at the finish that eventually mellows out to a pleasing creamy lemon aftertaste. Palate is a little thin (maybe a 2) Jolly nice overal. A mid amber orange coloured beer with a frothy, but weak white head. The nose is distinctly floral, hops with a touch of grapefruit and orange citrus fruit notes. A bitter flavour of floral hop, the citrus fruit element is present again, along side a smooth maltiness that balances the taste. The finish is dry and bitter. Bottled, pasteurised, 500ml. Orange amber with short lived head. Looked like lemonade in the glass with so much carbonation, this has a grassy grainy flavour with a perfume nose. Some hops on the finish but not to my taste.

[bottle from tesco]This looked a little fizzy when i poured it into my glass, fized almost like a soft drink, not great. However the aroma is aromatic and hoppy, some grapefruit there. body again is a little fizzy, definatly doesnt feel bottle conditioned, bitter finish. Blonde fruity and slightly sweet and has a slight sharp bitterness. The apple character gets over the top after awhile and is difficult to get rid of. Cloying.

Golden coloured with some alcohol. Some sour fruit and bitterness in a malt finish. ABV 5.3% scotty (1199) - SCOTLAND - JAN 17, 2006
Initially this looks great, but the head fizzles away in about 1 min. Nose is amazing! so fresh and hoppy, with a slightly honeyed edge. On the palate it is smooth and rounded, malt is the dominant flavour but balancing bitter acids linger well on the finish. This is a well balanced beer, shame the head died so fast ( glass is clean and as far as I know, free of detergent!) Another quality beer from Darwin. From Tesco. DonMagi (5593) - bantervile, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 22, 2005
Another decent beer for xmas from tesco, i suppose all that asking must have been listened too after all. Aroma of citrus hops which goes floural at times. Taste is also reasonably hopy but quite well balanced also. Bitter finish which does get a bit annoying after a while.
