21st Aug 2010: Brown 500ml bottle, just past its best before date (lot 3305, best before Aug 2010).
Poured into my ’La Chouffe’ tulip glass, three times: Pale amber colour, clean and bright, large off-white head sat on top of all three pours.
Although the beer has Fuggles, Progress, Challenger and Cascade hops with Syrian added late you’d never have guessed by the smell, very little hop aromas came out of the glass.
The hops do appear in the taste though along with Pale, Cystal and Amber Malts, which blend nicely with Malted Wheat to make a well balanced easy drinking English Bitter.
No world beater, but a pleasant bottled bitter.

Clear amber color, small white head. Caramelly, pale malty, a bit citrus hoppy and grainy nose. Medium-bodied, reasonably good for this abv. A bit sweetish, citrusy hoppy, pale malty flavor. Nothing special but amazingly tasty for being just 3.8%.
Bottled (thanks hanniku!). Pale amber colour with mediumsized slightly off-white head. Aroma is fruits, some caramel malts, mild grass. Flavour is fruits, wood, caramel, some grass and mild notes of toffee. Miksu (5052) - Jyväskylä, FINLAND - SEP 8, 2010
0.5 l bottle. Copper color. Tart fruity, resiny and resiny hop aroma with nutty malt. Resiny and fruity hop flavor with nuts and Burton minerals. Watery mouthfeel and somewhat flat taste.

Bottled. A golden beer with a pretty large white head and lacing. Initial decent citrus hoppy notes give way after a while to dull pasteurisation flavours and aromas. Brown paper for sure. Hidden hop in the mouth. Ordinary. RichardGretton (4883) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - JUL 8, 2010
Bottle. Vibrant bronze beer with a strongish head. The aroma is smoothly hopped and the flavour is mildly roasted, gently malty and hopped. Overall a nice smooth gently roasted and hopped bitter. thebeertourist (5188) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUN 12, 2010
Bottle from Beers of Europe. Amber with a good head. Fruity aroma, hints of metal. Fruit and metal also in the mouth. Medium bitterness. Fizzy. Incredibly dull. DruncanVeasey (8603) - Nr NUNEATON, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - OCT 22, 2009
Bottle. Honey gold with a dense lacing collar. Nose of apple turnover, cream, Lucozade, vegetables, surprising musky English hop with a rub of bay leaf, caramel, Battenburg. Flavour contains gnawed pencilly hop, cakemix, vanilla, insistent creamy afters with a scoop of egg custard and wet dough. Easy drinking, soft malty Brum/Black Country stuff like half of Church’s cask output. Davenport’s (Highgate’s) bottled stuff can be a bit dead and empty, but this is alright. leaparsons (10919) - Wigston, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - AUG 26, 2009
Bottle. Golden brown with a thin head. Aromas are toffee and tea with citrus. Dusty with shandy bass notes. Flavours are very much like Shandy Bass. Has the same lemonade-like sweetness. Some dry tea with light biscuit malts. An OK light beer.
