Thick, dark pour with sizable tan head. Lots of caramel and molasses initially, followed by some hop & rye dryness. Nice balance there. Excellent, out-of-the-ordinary brew!
Copper to brown in color. Aromas of dark candi, cherries, caramel and marzipan, Perhaps a hint of toasted malt in the background that is overpowered by the sweetness. I also catch a bit of alcohol and dirt. Thick and nearly oily in feel, just what I would expect from a rye brew. Sweet malt and dark berries in the flavors. A sharper finish, with a somewhat acidic bite. A rye dubbel. 8/10

Bottled version, pours a semi-hazy dark amber colored brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that leaves behind some spotty lacing. Aroma is fruity, flowery hops, sweet multi-grain malt and a hint of vanilla. Taste is medium boded, smooth, with flavors of apples, honey, a hint of bubble gum. Bottle:   Dirty caramel, sudsy tannish head, spotty lacing.   Sweet bready nose, toasted malts, caramel, very light dark pitted fruit.   Tastes much the same, perhaps a little musty even.   Comes across as a weak Belgian Dubbel.   Caramel, bready, with faint dark pitted fruit.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Does feel a bit stale by the end.   Dark pitted fruit, old caramel, breadiness, and some soft yet rich biscuit notes linger.   Decent little beer.   Thanks Matt! hopdog (12451) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 3, 2013

Pours reddish brown with small head, small suspended sediment, and great lacing. Aroma is peppery rye with some sweet fruit, candy, and yeast that give the impression of a barley wine or Trappist ale. Taste follows suit, with some spicy rye and a yeasty Belgian/Trappist vibe. Palate is medium-bodied and smooth. Alcohol is detectable but pretty well hidden for the ABV. Has some sweet caramel/bread notes with a bit of rye. Taste is similar but the rye comes out a bit and finishes sweet, pretty interesting complex brew.

Smell is creamy malty and caroub. Taste is scotty malty higher alky. CO2 is barely there. Difficult higher alky brew on the finish. Sweeter alky thing. Mouth coating somewhat oily. Wew, pretty cheap too! Did I say the alky wasn’t well hidden, eh? Curious alright. Big chunks come out from the bottom of the bottle.
