Daves BrewFarm Select Golden Lager - Canned

RATINGS: 52   WEIGHTED AVG: 2.87/5   EST. CALORIES: 165   ABV: 5.5%
An easy-drinkin, golden all-malt lager. Brewed with six-row and specialty malts and hopped with Cluster and Perele to give it a smooth crisp flavor, with just a hint of malt sweetness. Select Golden Lager is brewed at both Steven Point Brewery and Daves BrewFarm locations.

Poured with a nice foamy, frothy off white head that lasts a little while and a little lace. Color is a clear amber. Aroma is fresh beer, malt, a little hop, fresh baked white bread, cereal, and a little fresh mown grass. Flavor is like aroma and a little on the sweet side. Decent body and carbonation. Short finish like flavor. Inoffensive and mostly forgettable. Prefer the crisper pale lagers, mself.

Thanks to Exiled for sharing this can. The beer pours a clear yellow color with a white head. The aroma is very fruity with some citrus and pineapple. The flavor is a mix of pears, oranges and apricots. The beer is very juicy tasting. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Definitely the best pale lager I have ever tried.

Clear golden yellow, medium white head fades into a thin layer and leaves some wispy lacing behind. Aroma of grains, grassy hops and sweet malt. Taste is sweet with a bit of grassy hops, honey and malt. A touch of corn and mild bitterness on the finish. Easy to drink and even easier to forget.

Can. Gold color with a thin head. Light marshmallow and dusty grain aroma. Easy malty flavor, moderate bitterness thats in the earthy and floral realm. Not complex, but an easily drinkable session beer.

Canned. Poured crystal-clear medium golden with a tall, well-retained white head.. looked great in the glass. The aroma picked up sweet, toasted grainy notes and honey with crisp, fresh grassy hop accents.. balance was quite good. The flavor found honey and pale malts again at the core.. fresh, bright grass and lesser earthy bitterness around.. sticky-sweet toward the back.. almost crisp, but a little too tacky on the finish. Light-bodied and sweet overall on the palate.. balance was solid, and this was very drinkable.

12oz can. Golden-bronze, filtered. Thin, oily head. Sweet, sugary, beer factory aroma. Pretty shabby, with that sugary sweet six-row thing going on. Tastes more in line with something Minhas/Berghoff would do. There is a bit more hop character than your typical macro, but the six-row just cheapens the experience. There is some malt toastiness in it, and it doesnt suffer as bad as other macro lagers when it approaches cellar and room temperatures.

Can. Disappointing as hell. Very metallic tasting. Little malt, little hops, verage looking pour. There is nothing special about this. Pass.

Can (Brewed at Stevens Point) Gold pour with a medium white head. aroma is pretty standard lager stuff. malty light sweetness, minimal grainy presence and a hint of grassy hop. flavour is light and clean, with a malty sweetness through the middle and a touch of grassy hop bitterness that plays back and forth with a light residual sweetness in the finish.

12 oz. can, brewed in Stevens Point. Clean, hoppy, floral, dry, fresh, grainy, appetizing aroma features green apple and celery scents. The smell dissipates as one drinks. Pours a pale gold to straw color. The liquid is completely clear. Small to moderate amount of small, slow-rising bubbles. Large amount of thick, fluffy, long-lasting, nearly white head that appears more like the head of a Belgian pale ale than that of a typical pale lager. Nice, surprisingly extensive lacing. The taste features sweet, fruity (especially peach) malts as well as a dry bite in the back of the throat from the Cluster and Perle hops (according to the can). Pleasant taste but low in flavor by the standards of craft brewing, though quite flavorful for the style. Just a touch of metal in the finish, but it is only a minor detraction. Alcohol taste slightly noticeable, surprisingly. Light body, but not extremely light. Easy drinking and refreshing, as the can states. Not as crisp as one might expect for a lager. Daves BrewFarm Select Golden Lager is more like a good German Helles than a typical pale lager, but if one does consider it a pale lager, its pretty much as good as the style can get. Im impressed. Im a tough rater, so a 3.3 for this style is pretty darn good.

[Can] Pours a clear honey gold with a small white head. Aroma is grainy and floral with a light malt sweetness. Flavor is smooth and creamy, light lager yeast, light floral and noble hop, and a light bitterness on the finish.
