Poured on tap at the brewpub as part of a sampler. Came to table with almost no head, which disappeared within a minute. At first taste, had to check to make sure I was drinking the IPA. There is no hops aroma, and practically no hops taste whatsoever to this brew. It comes off malty, almost soapy tasting. Worst attempt at an IPA I’ve ever had from a supposedly "professional" brewer. Most homebrew IPA’s I’ve tasted were much better.

Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a dark copper color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated within several seconds. The aroma had a fairly big malt character to it with some earthiness, grass and butterscotch. The flavor blended lightly between the malts and the earthy and grassy hops. Cues a nicely blended aftertaste rolling into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine. Overall, decent as an English styled IPA as the brewer suggests or brewers as I see this is brewed at Shipyard. Do-able.

English style, and they invented the IPA, I enjoyed this, thanks for sharing Ron! Malt heavy, caramel, toffee. I don’t recall the notes added by the hops, but they were muted.

The low reviews seem to be from this being rated as an American IPA when it is definitely an English IPA. Pours Dark copper with a thin white head. Aroma is dominated by malt: caramel and some butterscotch. The flavor is also very malt driven. Caramel, butterscotch, and it finishes off with an earthy, bitter bite. A decent English IPA. Quite drinkable, but definitely a shock if you want an aggressive hop-forward American IPA.

Bottle. Pours a golden amber with a thin white head. Light pine and citrus notes. Thin to medium bodied with flavors of honey, citrus and pine. Ends a little bit sweet, but with a nice grapefruit bitterness.

On tap at Timberwolf Pub (Schroon Lake, NY). Limpid, amber body with an average off-white frothy head. Fair malty/hoppy aroma with weirs leather hints. Taste is slightly dominated by hoppy flavors. It also carries malty, woody, and grainy notes. Ends with a decent bitter/woody finish. Drinkable.

I’m an IPA guy love the aroma and that taste is something completely different then most other ipas so I teed to enjoy this ale very much way to change the game Davidson brothers.

Tap at Johnny Rockets in Queensbury on my Topper trip to Vermont. Man this is not really good at all tasted like dish soap. Very malty and off balance. Would never try this again if I had a gun to my head. Bluhhhh

At the brewpub for quick lunch stop. pours orange with nose of piney yet slightly stale hops. Tastes of pine, grapefruit, honey, florals, light caramel, and earth. standard brewpub ipa but well done enough to get by

On Tap in Albany. Pours amber with white head and some carbonation. Body is full and crisp. Taste and aroma is of bready malt, buckwheat, earthy hops and some fruity esters. Finish is long and earthy. Nothing special IPA.

12oz into a 16.9oz stemmed belgian. Pours a sloppy brown, muddeled with tree bark, tan hues and bulky twigs. Aroma is musky pine hops, harvest soil, dry dirt, some coca beans, and faint citrus. Taste is dirty hops that are not yet ready to be added to a brew, but sprn in their own right. Heavy caramel flare, lemon, pine sap and cones, and hops round out the rest. Chewy mouthfeel, sweet at times, then somewhat bitter in the end. An ok brew. 5.9 fits it well.
