On tap at the brewpub with a 5oz sample. Aroma is chocolatey and mildly smoked and milky. A bit of peatiness is also present. Very nice aroma. Moderately-mostly opaque dark brown/black color with a light tan head. Dark chocolatey smooth bitter finish. Nice mouthfeel with a bit of coffee. A very nice stout. gws57 (1276) - Saint Charles, Illinois, USA - AUG 9, 2005
Had this one on draught in Glens Falls, New York. Deep black, nearly opaque color with a thick, brown head, nose of coffee, very complex taste with notes of apricot, bitter chocolate, and amaretto with a very soft finish. An outstanding sweet stout. Good at what it is: an honest rendition of the style without defaults nor stand outs. Fairly mild, but still packing a decent roastiness like burnt chocolate, an almost black body, the typical nitro appearance and obvious oats while having a creamy medium body. Lovers of the style will certainly appreciate this.

Nuts playing with efficient roasted bitterness...Dark chocolate undertones in a well-fed body...Nothing to reinvent the wheel, but simply a very good stout on all levels... mkobes (2142) - paramus, New Jersey, USA - APR 26, 2004
