An above average oatmeal stout - opaque, but nearly no head - decent tan lacing, though - roasted oat aroma with a touch of hops - medium bodied with a smooth and creamy mouthfeel - flavor is dominated by dark roast coffee, starts sweet and then gets some espresso bitterness (as others have noted) - hints of dark fruit - long finish - nice. UPDATED: APR 27, 2004 (Draught) At Maxfields in Potsdam. Pours a beige, creamy head and an opaque body. Nose is cocoa and a mild skim milk. Fairly chocolaty yet TOO THIN. Above average.(Rated 3.2). What a difference drinking at the brewery makes. I only had this beer on draught a month ago in Potsdam and this drinking experience at the brewery was totally different. Medium, lasting brown head nad an opaque body. Bitter chocolate nose. Thin, very creamy and bitter chocolate. Lasting bitterness on the back of the palate. Tad oily. Excellently balanced, sweet-at the start, bitter-at-the finish oaty stout; some nice wine qualities and hints of raisin, and a smoothness and luscious mouthfeel that continues even into the harder-than-expected finish. Well above average. tiggmtl (4545) - East York, Ontario, CANADA - APR 25, 2004
UPDATED: APR 27, 2004 Coffee, roasted malt, dark chocolate aromas. Dark brown - almost black, with dark tan (nitro?) head. Roasted malts dominate a very bitter stout. Creamy and somewhat viscous mouthfeel. On tap at the brewery.

On nitro tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a thick foamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, lactose, light chocolate. Flavor of roasted malt, light char/burnt malt, bitter chocolate. This is a decent oatmeal stout, drinkable but nothing special. Smooth nitro mouthfeel.
