Serving: Draft at Leesburg Brewing Company. It pours a deep amber color with a small head. The nose has great tropical fruit notes with a hint of rye spiciness. Reletively light on the tongue with lots of rye spiciness, light florlas, tropical fruit, and a peppery back end. Finishes dusty. Interesting. Pizzeria Paradiso, Alexandria tap ($6): Pours copper with a whitish head. Aroma is a bit of saison funk, with some tropical fruit, and a hint of rye. This is definitely less ryefull and malty than other rye saisons I have had. Light bodied, but substantial. Hoppy tingles. Lots of fruitiness, but not too much sweetness. A well-balanced session ale. Tap. Fluffy light offwhite head, amber orange that’s mostly clear. Sweet breadiness, citrus, and melon in the aroma with some slight spice. Flavor is quite dry, yeasty, touch of grass and melon. Lighter body. Not bad.
