Draft at Churchkey on 5/11/14. Very dark brown color, massive brown head. Aroma of huge dusty cocoa powder and vanilla. Taste is smooth rich vanilla, coffee grounds, chocolate. Very nice. jesperhammer (4727) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAY 9, 2014
09-MAY-2014, draft @Pizzeria Paradiso, Georgetown.
Black with lasting tan head.
Aroma is barrel and roast. Bourbon? Yes, I guess.
Taste is even more bourbon. The vanilla and cocoa kind with soft sweet roast. Full bodied, sweet for a porter, soft carbonation. Interesting. nimbleprop (8297) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - MAY 5, 2014
4oz pour at Jack Rose DC. Pours an inky black with some creamy tan head. Nose is cocoa powder, malt, molasses, vanilla, caramel, sugary, a little coffee, a little yeasty. Flavor has a lot vanilla, toasted coconut, herbs, molasses, a little cooked greens, stale coffee, burnt brown sugar. Chalky finish. radagast83 (8019) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - MAY 3, 2014
Draft at the source, this one in Jim Beam barrels. Like regular NATAS, this one poured a dark, almost black with a huge, fluffy tan head. Aroma is barrel notes, roasted malts, dried fruits. Barrel dominates this one a bit, but it creates a very smooth, interesting brew.
