Appearance: Pitch black body with a creamy tan head.
Aroma: The aroma is restrained, mild berry presence with a touch of roast and sweet cocoa.
Taste: Mild berry fruitiness with a mild cocoa and roasted presence.
Palate: Light to medium bodied, highly carbonated.
Overall: Decent, but the flavors are muted.
hazy brown, opaque with a thin tan ring reducing to oily island. Light black olive blows off nose quickly, dusty cocoa and wood. Flavor more chocolate up front, burnt roasts strong mid with lingering plum.

Draft at Churchkey. Pours dark brown in color with a small tan head that doesn’t last. The aroma has roasted malts, espresso, a hint of the unibroue yeast but was fairly mild (perhaps served a bit on the cold side). The flavor had a nice roasted malt, espresso, dark chocolate base with some earthy and herbal character to the finish. A bit soft, but worth the taste. jtclockwork (16597) - , New Jersey, USA - MAY 25, 2013

Torst, NY tap ($4): Pours a dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma is dark chocolate, hops, pretzels, and roasted malts. Taste is much the same. Beer is a bit sweet, with a nice roasty bitterness. Nice aftertaste that really brings out the soft pretzel flavor. jbeatty (1248) - New York, USA - MAY 6, 2013
Draft at Torst, 05/05/2013. Black pour, creamy foam on the surface, thin white lacing. Aroma is rich, yet soft, chocolate notes, some sweetness, roast malts and a touch of coffee, herbal notes underneath. Taste is chocolate malts, dry roasty finish, DC Brau character is evident. Light palate, prickly carbonation. Nice, not overly complex but tasty and enjoyable.
