Pours dark orange with medium head. Aroma: pine, malt, citrus. Taste: nicely hoppy with just a touch of sweetness, making it very drinkable. GT (10017) - San Diego, California, USA - SEP 27, 2012
Tap at Smoke & Barrel. Pours a low haze deep orange to amber. Scant head to near nothing. Nose is black pepper, cheese, Taste is very sharp cardboard, paper, tree bark, carbon paper. Sharp carbonation, astringent tea bitterness. Mild tannic wooliness. Not very successful experiment. I think there's a reason you don't barrel age light beers or IPAs. Very mild tomato paste in nose hints at the barrel.

Draft. Murky brown-amber body, medium beige head. Aroma is moderately sweet, orange/grapefruit, light rye. Taste is moderately sweet, orange/grapefruit, some rye, light caramel. Medium body, light acidity. Not sure the point of this one -- the regular version is much better. Travlr (26405) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - APR 16, 2012
Draft. Variegated light brown color, bright white head, solid lacing. Aroma of vanilla, subtle booze. Taste starts with vanilla, then sour whiskey and pepper. Interesting. radagast83 (8624) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - APR 15, 2012
Tap at Meridian Pint for the 1 year anniversary party. Aroma has some spice rye notes, and vanilla oak notes. Flavor still contained a touch of the hop character that the base beer contained, as well as a subtle vanilla character, with a pretty dominant whiskey character.
