And so it was written.......
According to Mayan and Hopi calendars the "transition from one world age to another" will happen on December 21, 2012. As an homage to the "transition" DC Brau has concocted an Imperial IPA named "On the Wings of Armageddon".

Kurmaraja hooked this can up as an extra when he was just doing me a favor. Ryan is a cool cat.. I appreciate it amigo. 12oz can poured into my Stone Tap-Takeover goblet.. 2 finger off white head.. huge retention and lacing.. the brew is clear orange/amber. Grassy/citrus hoppiness on the nose is muted by way too much pale malt and even a bit of a biscuity/lite caramel maltiness.. very malt forward for a DIPA. Flavor pretty much mirrors the nose.. not a big enough bitter profile to balance the bigger than expected malts.. I would like waaay more hop presence and a much drier brew. Body is too heavy and the carbonation seems too light. Decent brew, but it definitely seems "East Coast".... too much residual maltiness and not nearly enough big-boned hoppiness.

Draft. Citrus nose, with some herbalness and resin. Caramel on the palate balances out the heft of the hops. Good balance. Finishes a little wet.

UPDATED: JAN 28, 2017 355ml can shared by Margus, thanks! Almost clear orange pour, small white head. Nose is fruity, oranges, malts and caramel. Flavor is sweet, fruity, hoppy. Finish is grapefruity bitterness and mild sweet malts. Lingering grapefruit bitterness. Very drinkable considering the ABV. Pretty nice.

Really decent DIPA. Oft times, the local DIPA efforts lag behind the more well-known west coast big boys, but this stands up to the best.

Can, brought back from DC by Lalitha. Nice amber colour, white foam, vanished a bit quick. Pretty good DIPA this, nice malt balance and big tropical citrus hop with a little pine. Bitterness obviously high but not too much for the malt. Drinks very easily for abv. Good stuff.

Fresh cans from the brewery. Pours dark orange with medium head disappearing fast. Aroma: incredibly fresh aroma of ripe tropical fruit, a nice malt touch. Taste: very fresh and well balanced mix of tropical fruit, some pine, nice malt body, a touch of biscuits. ABV is very well hidden. This is a dangerously drinkable imperial IPA and definitely one of my favorites.

12 oz. can from nimbleprop - thanks again! Pours a clear golden orange until the last ounce of the can comes out, dumping a ton of yeast floaters into the glass. Small white head, settling into an uneven ring and spotty film, leaving streaks and spots of lace in the glass. The sweet malt backbone is the first thing thats apparent here, with toast, honey, caramel, pine resin, citrus, tea, and florals. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a smooth, bitter, resinous mouthfeel. Not bad, but I want to try it again super fresh.
