COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Smells Like Freedom is our first collaboration with Oskar Blues. The 7-percent IPA — which is being brewed both at Oskar Blues and at DC Brau — is a nod to D.C.’s Initiative 71, the marijuana-legalization measure approved in November and expected to take effect early 2015.

"It seemed to be a connection we had between the two

Can. Clear golden colour. Aroma Amarillish, resiny, citrusy. Taste very nicely balanced, lots of bitterness and hops flavour, Amarillo but also exotic fruitiness. Very tasty very good.

On tap in Brevard. Decent IPA but nothing exceptional. Oskar Blues seems like the obvious choice for a collab in honour of Initiative 71 with their copious use of Columbus but this one was suprisingly un-dank. Nice pine/ citrus notes and drinks fairly crisp and clean. Goes down really easily- but that also could have been a long hike on a hot day. Nice resin/ bitter qualities on finish. Was expecting better.

Can. Burnt orange hue, good clarity. Soft head of sandy tan. Citrusy aroma -- orange peel, orange juice, wet grass. Not much dank character. The flavor has a nice resinous hop aspect, accented again by orange peel, OJ and grass. Moderate bitterness; balanced finish. For a beer that’s supposed to celebrate the legalization of weed, this had a disappointing cannabis-like hop character.
