12oz can sent from Drake for free when he noticed the DC tick we traded for in 2009 didn’t count any longer – thanks so much Dan! Pours hazy orange with a one finger thick beige head that left delicate lacing. The nose is caramel, ripe citrus and light tropical fruit. The taste is grapefruit and pine with some faint caramel malt followed by a nice lingering resin finish. Medium bodied. Nice and hoppy solid APA – thanks again Dan!
This was the either the 5th or 6th different DC Brau beer I tried...and will be the last for a while. None really rated higher than average at best for me. There seems to be sediment in most, but in a not so good way. This one leans towards and English Pale Ale to me, with extra malt and sweetness. Little more than slightly off balance. Gets one point higher than their IPA just cause the balance is a little less off for the style. Bacchus66 (1006) - South Carolina, USA - AUG 25, 2017
12oz can at Nationals Park. Pours hazy golden orange with a frothy but fading white head. Orange and malt nose. Flavors add orange peel, caramel malt, bread. Smooth mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. Mildly bitter finish. Jpmercer (100) - shakopee, Minnesota, USA - AUG 24, 2017
The Public is a delicious easy drinking pale ale made from a simple recipe of quality grain and top notch American hops. Tawny hues of caramel and amber are a trademark of the Public ale as well as a delicious spruce crispness resulting from a beautiful abundance of hops! Truly an American style ale for the public.

Fairly malty, almost feels more like a hoppy amber to me. Not that impressed.

Ruby red dark amber, small head. Earthy hops in nose and taste. Bit tropic hops too. Caramel, spicy bready body. Alcoholic when warmer. Aromatic pale ale not as easy as advertised. Quite different but very enjoyable if you like more malty flavour. gopherfan99 (2012) - Minnesota, USA - JAN 22, 2017
