3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Fruity, flowery aroma. Malty, caramel flavor with a little fruit and pine. Dry, smooth finish. First thing I’ve tried from this brewery, and it’s a good one.
Grabbed this in Flying Dog at BWI. Pours a slightly hazy dark amber color. Aroma is of malts, hops, grain, wheat, esters, and some lactic. Carbonated palate. Flavor is basically the same as the aroma. This is more of a malt forward pale ale. Leaves a malt finish. Another state knocked off of the list! This was the either the 5th or 6th different DC Brau beer I tried...and will be the last for a while. None really rated higher than average at best for me. There seems to be sediment in most, but in a not so good way. This one leans towards and English Pale Ale to me, with extra malt and sweetness. Little more than slightly off balance. Gets one point higher than their IPA just cause the balance is a little less off for the style. Bacchus66 (1162) - South Carolina, USA - AUG 25, 2017
12oz can at Nationals Park. Pours hazy golden orange with a frothy but fading white head. Orange and malt nose. Flavors add orange peel, caramel malt, bread. Smooth mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. Mildly bitter finish. Jpmercer (122) - shakopee, Minnesota, USA - AUG 24, 2017
The Public is a delicious easy drinking pale ale made from a simple recipe of quality grain and top notch American hops. Tawny hues of caramel and amber are a trademark of the Public ale as well as a delicious spruce crispness resulting from a beautiful abundance of hops! Truly an American style ale for the public.
