On tap at Rustico in Alexandria. Served in a tulip. Nice nose with a good earthiness and backing yeast character. Hops are dominant. Some floral notes. Very light fruit and mild malty touch providing just a hint of sweetness.
The Bier Baron, DC tap ($5): Pours a red body with a whitish head. Aroma is citrus with a bit of Belgian yeast and some grass, with very little malt. Taste is nicely bitter, with very flavourful hop character. It is pretty easy to drink because of the nice body. No sweetness. Tastes like a DIPA with a twist. Didn’t think it was too experimental though. BazookaJoe (274) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - JAN 8, 2013
Growler from the brewery. Smells and looks like a red ale, but finishes with a sweet Belgium yeast. Not a bad experimental beer.

Draft at churchkey...to me it tastes like a good hoppy american pale with belgian yeast that sweetens it slightly and adds some body. I definintely recommend it. radagast83 (8019) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - DEC 22, 2012
Draft at Churchkey. Poured a slightly hazy orange color with a wispy, off-white head. Aroma was a bit dank, with some sweet notes and a solid amount of yeast character in this one. Some fruit notes, with some yeast dominate the flavor. Alcohol is a bit boozy on this one, despite being only 7.3%. Okay - but not my favorite from them. Tap. Foamy light tan head on a very murky muddy orange brown. Some slight resinous hops in the aroma, with toffee and small caramel. Flavor is thankfully not all that sweet with herbal and dank hops, bit dry and bitter. Some slight fruitiness as well. Medium to lighter body. Not their best effort, but not bad.

Cask at Meridian Pint. Shared by Travlr- thank you! Pours a full haze deep red with a creamy tan head. Spotty lace. Nose is thick diacetyl and toffee. Taste is tea tannic, astringent, sugar, strawberry candies. Bitter, drying. Unpleasant. nimbleprop (8297) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - DEC 11, 2012
Growler from DC Brau. Pours a translucent garnet amber with some creamy, slight off white head. First go at the nose and it smells like Juicy Fruit bubble gum, tropical fruits, oranges, candy sugar, a little caramel, cherry candies. Flavor is a little maltier, Belgian candy sugar, some orange, some grapefruit candy, a little melon, cherry, light malt. Medium bodied, lightly sweet finish. Not sure how I would describe a standard West Coast Red Ale, maybe this is it. I liked this. Unique, drinkable, a little festive. Travlr (24315) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - DEC 5, 2012
Draft. Murky variegated brown color, tan head, amazing lacing. Nice aroma of grass and subtle licorice. Taste starts sweet, then citrus and summer fruit with a bitter finish. A successful experiment, I’d say. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - DEC 1, 2012
