COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stone of Arbroath has a rich, sweet malty aroma with mellow notes of plum and brown sugar. The mouthfeel has a "mineral-like" softness with highlights of deep caramelized malt derived from a 90 min boil which encourages caramelizing of dense wort sugars complemented by a subtle roast character that finishes with a mild acridity that pleasantly coats ones mouth. Coming in at a warming and subdued 8% ABV it will definitely ruffle many a kilt this spring.

Can from State Line. Nose richly malty, smoke, earth, plum, red berry, caramel, touch mineral, all luscious. Pour dull copper-caramel but darker in the glass, opaque with a short tan head. Taste fully sweet, low bitterness, extremely thick malt, rich and syrupy, some alcohol showing in the stars before my eyes, caramel and sugar but stronger red berry, subtle black pepper and hoppiness, faint tan. Just huge fruitiness for the style, clean, lighter carbonation, avoids the sludge. Light cola, raisin. Need a few more cans before I’d think about picking this over Old Chub, but it’s not too far behind -- needs something to round, like must, tobacco, roast, etc. [2017.07.26: 3.8]

On tap at brewery, nitro and co2. Poured a nice deep brown with an off white head. Taste is sweet and malty. Lingers with a little bitter and a bit boozy, but all round very nice.

Mild coca aroma with a bold scotch malt balanced by brown sugar with a peaty finish.

Can from a trade. Poured into glass. A huge light tan on a murky reddish brown beer. Nose is immediately medicinal and phenolic. Moderate caramel sweetness in the nose. Taste is a weird caramel male bomb followed by a burnt coffee bitterness with metallic off flavors. This is horrible. Dumped.

12oz can in a tulip. Pours deep brown with a beige head. Aroma of caramel and toffee and nutty malts, some light notes of chocolate, hints of hops, and some dough. Flavor the same with a nice blend. Average texture. A solid Scotch ale.

Big bold scotch ale that has a thick oil like pour and mouthfeel. Nice alcohol percentage and taste of bog. Took me a long time to get through a six pack.
