Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass:
Medium sized creamy foamy head on top of a hazy amber orange colored beer.
Aromas of speculaas, some wild yeast, some caramel, some fruity tones like prunes, a light dust cellar touch and some hay.
Flavours of malts, caramel, toast, light spice, some hay, bitters, herbs, toast, light sweet, leafs, some yeast, hint of flowers and stone.
Aftertaste is a mix of bitters, leafs, hay, toast and a sprinkle of yeast.
Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, light to medium bodied and a light creamy texture. blackisle (2637) - Amsterdam IJburg, NETHERLANDS - FEB 21, 2014
Opaque amber to light brown, good frothy tan head, foamy layer remains all te way; sweet smoky nose, smoked sausage, roasted, peat, leather; smoky bitter taste; medium body, creamy texture; bitter smoky finish. A kinda lite version of a rauchbier, not bad at al but no session beer. PeatyPete (1090) - NETHERLANDS - FEB 15, 2014
Poor + delicious. According to the label not so heavy but lived-in. It is indeed not very rich in taste and besides the Woody and smoky flavor is also à bit watery. Perhaps the word poor in the name is therefore in it’s place. Beerhunter111 (21321) - P´Castle, GERMANY - FEB 2, 2014
330ml Flasche. Trübes bernsteinfarbenes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch röstmalzig, erdig, fruchtig. Geschmack leicht rauchig, ansonsten fruchtig, leicht würzig. MichaelAwesome (6546) - Wanne-Eickel, GERMANY - JAN 28, 2014
Smokey and earthy - nothing I would wish when drinking a beer should be pleasure. Poor one.
Christos (5855) - Arnhem, NETHERLANDS - JAN 27, 2014
Bottle 330 ml at home, into a big tulip. ABV 5%
Amber red colour on the body, with a minimal tan head, low retention and almost non existent lacing.
Aroma of smoke, peated malts, leather.
Nice smokey taste, without being extreme, smoked meat. Surprisingly no spices in this one.
Thin body with low carbo.
Overall okay, more of a smoked than an amber ale. ppils (143) - - JAN 26, 2014
Bottle. Amber beer. Aroma a bit malty and caramel. Taste is sweet but a bit bland. Ok beer. McTapps (6899) - Reutlingen, GERMANY - JAN 24, 2014
Bottle from Douberd - many thanks, Christos! The beer pours out in a cloudy medium brown colour with low head and medium body. Aroma of leather and chimney. Taste of earth, leaves, smoke, leather, malt and woods. Very, very smokey touch and finsih - not my kind of beer, due to the smokey and leathery touch. larsga (7567) - Oslo, NORWAY - AUG 31, 2013
Small beige head. Clear amber body with light carbonation.
Earthy barnyard and horse blanket aroma with fruity notes.
Dryish earthy barnyard and horse blanket taste (very similar to
aroma) with wooden salty notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft
mouthfeel. Dryish wooden barnyard and horse blanket aftertaste
with caramelly fruity earthy notes. It’s basically the same
flavour all the way through, and that’s totally dominated by a
brett-like character. (0.33l bottle, from de Bierkoning,
Amsterdam.) rikstar (2604) - NETHERLANDS - AUG 3, 2013
0,33l fles. Aroma is tikkie zuur de smaak komt hier niet mee overeen. Hier komt ook wat rook naar boven. Flinke body voor het ABV
