(Bottle, De Spuyt, Amsterdam, 1 March 2014) Black colour with rocky, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, chocolate, mocha, a touch of cinnamon and cocoa. Malty, roasted taste with notes of chocolate, coffee, cocoa, dark bread and a fairly dry finish with a generous coffee bitterness. More than medium body, quite dry. Tasty and well balanced stout. Nice one. kraddel (7859) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - NOV 27, 2012

From bottle at Arendsnest on 5 April 2011. My first beer from this new brewery and, overall, a quite promising effort. Very dark colour. Good coffee & chocolate in the aroma. There’s just a hint of cooked vegetable which I sometimes liken to baked beans too. Some roast coffee in the flavour. Quite creamy, but dry mouthfeel. Looking forward to trying some more beers from this brewer.

Tap @ Wormer, small sample. Dark color, short brown head. Aroma of chocolate, quite fruity of blackcurrant, slight spicy and earthy as well, hint of roast. Creamy texture. Slight sweet, slight bitter, bit dry. Very well balanced and a good try on an English stout. Good stuff. Borresteijn (6969) - Zaandam, NETHERLANDS - MAR 5, 2011

Bottle from Douberd - many thanks! The beer pours out in a deep black colour with creamy, low head and medium to smooth body. Aroma of malt, roast and nuts. Taste of intense malt, leaves, woods, dark grains, chocolate and bitter coffee. Dark, roasty finish. Dry, medium bitter. Easy and nice drinkable with a earthy character. Nice one. Nice small vast tan head on top of a black beer.
Smell earth, coffee, espresso, hint of dark chocolate, dark fruits, spices, speculaas.
Taste is a mix of roasted malts, coffee, coffee beans, spices, dark chocolate, bitter, light caramel, hint of hops and light earthy.
Light dry aftertaste of bitter, coffee and grass.
Low carbo, soft light oily mouthfeel, medium body and a watery texture. Nice brew! MichaelAwesome (6516) - Wanne-Eickel, GERMANY - FEB 4, 2014
Quite a dark one with roasted malt, some coffee, a bit of chocolate and bit earthy in the end. Not a bad one but quite dull. jfb (6232) - GERMANY - DEC 19, 2012
(bottle) pours a darkest ruby-brown colour with a creamy beige head. aroma of sour cherries, balsamic vinegar and toasted malts, dark chocolate and herbal hops, with a hint of citrus fruits. flavour is mostly the same, lots of toasted malts and espresso, dark fruit, bubble gum and a light citric tartness in the earthy finish. medium-bodied with average carbonation. erickok (6037) - Leuven, BELGIUM - JUN 15, 2012
Big smoke when opening... Pours a deep black body and big foamy tan head. Nice! Interesting aroma, with a mix of roasted malts and pecan nuts at first, a light funky fruityness later. Light resin, some lemon even. Strangely, only some reviews here many notice of that sourness.. Taste is richer than I expected. Not an impy of course, but rather a well drinkable yet roasted and interesting drink. Long licorice aftertaste. Quite a positive surprise for me! (33cl bottle from bottle shop at Utrecht Centraal)
