(Draught at Groote Witte Arend, Antwerpen, 24 Oct 2013. 6.0%) Reddish amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of caramel, cherries and dark fruit. Fruity, malty taste with caramel, candy sugar and a touch of cherries. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Low bitterness. Quite balanced and tasty, with a gentle cherry character and not as sweet as expected. Quite nice. Brigadier (3690) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - JUL 8, 2013

After an extremely subpar beer I was glad to try this beer which seems to be an exclusive. It is a solid fruit beer although to call it a kriek seems like a stretch other than the fact that it contains cherries. It is still worth ordering one to accompany a fine meal.
Aroma / Appearance - The cherry red body and stark white head look a bit like a cup of strawberry Jello. Dried cranberries, chewy cherry pies, and fresh cherry pie accent a light tartness.
Flavor / Palate - Slightly medicinal in nature, the first few sips are the one weakness of a decent beer. Cherry pie filling paired with crust taken out of the oven just a minute too soon are soft on the tongue. Over time the sweetness grows until it lingers in the throat like a handful of Jolly Ranchers. This has some issues but overall is worth trying once.
Draft at De Groote Witte Arend, Antwerp. Amber red color with a medium white head. Aroma is malty cereal grain, sugar, spice and light cherry. Flavor has a bit more cherry and some sweetness, light zesty spice but no real sourness. Medium to light body. Ok beer but nothing I’d go out of my way for again. Tap at De Groote Witte Arend, Antwerp. Pours clear, pink-red with a small, white foam head. It’s a fine beer, lightly fruity, pretty mellow overall. The fruit character is on the light end, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Light bodied, finely carbonated with a crisp, quenching finish. Nice.

25 cl. draft sampled @ De Groote Witte Arend: – A: amber red with a white head – S: grains, wheat, esters, touch of hop, no kriek or cherry – T: grains, wheat, spices, esters, booze, slight hint of cherry jam in the finish, almost not sure if I could find it if I weren’t looking for it, amazingly little fruit in here, I was expecting the usual white sugar & cherry grenadine bomb but almost no fruit in here, very odd, not that very different from the Arend Blond which I tried also De Groote Witte Arend – B: medium kermis (13482) - The Hague / Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JUL 1, 2011
Draft at Grote Witte Arend. Amber pour with a big white head. Cherry aroma but not a great deal of fruit in the flavour. It has a slight sourness but has been sweetened. deanso (10141) - Chiang Mai, THAILAND - JUN 26, 2011

Decent white head. Cherry red amber colour. A decent kriek but not outstanding ogivlado (7839) - Zagreb, CROATIA - SEP 2, 2008

Interesting nice dark purple coloured, medium sized pink head that went away fast leaving funny lace, dry cherry nose. The taste is cherry, light spicy and fruity with notes of dried fruits and cinnamon. Pleasant sweet and sour finish.
