jaghana (6021) - Strasbourg (Alsace), FRANCE - JUL 24, 2016
Bottle 33cl, a copper amber beer with medium head, low retention. Nose is strange and unusual on smoked touch and cooked vegetables, nutty. Taste is quite bitter with astringent finish, aroma on toasted grain and smoked notes, bit mono-dimensional unfortunately, retro-olfaction gives a ashes and kind of vomit touch ! So a real smoked beer but a bit harsh.

Wazig diep amberkleurig bier met kleine gebroken witte schuimkraag. Aroma: rokerig, worst, karamel, licht fruitig. Smaak: medium zoet en bitter, moutig, rokerig, licht caramel, peper. Mondgevoel: gemiddeld met gemiddeld koolzuur en rokerige afdronk.

3.5
blackisle (2532) - IJburg, NETHERLANDS - MAY 8, 2016
Bottle 33cl. Poured into a teku glass. Clear deep amber, small frothy head, mostly diminishing, a thin layer remains, fair lacing; aroma at first very smoky, sausage, later more caramel and light fruity notes; taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, smoky, light caramel, peppery; retronasal smoke sensations, middle part and aftertaste sweetbitter, smokiness only light in the background, peppery, bit dusty; medium body, oily texture, average carbonation; a pity that the smoke disappears in the middle part and finish, but nice anyway.

3.4
chinchill (4941) - South Carolina, USA - MAY 3, 2016
From a 330 ml bottle into a goblet. APPEARANCE: A gentle pour, leaving 1 cm of sediment-laden liquid in the bottom of the bottle, produced a small, semi-durable, off-white head. Copper in color and moderately hay despite the pour. Aroma: Sweet and smoked malts; hints of dried fruits, including cherries, wet cardboard, and caramel. Complex with a light smokiness. Flavor: Medium+ strength, More fruity than smoky; in fact, it’s quite lightly smoky in a manner than works well with the complex fruity and yeasty notes. More smoke appears in the aftertaste, along with a light bitterness, Caramel sweetness masks the bitterness until the finish. PALATE: Medium body and carbonation. Very smooth. OVERALL: well worth trying.

Hopverdju (1199) - BELGIUM - APR 19, 2016
Amber/oranjekleurig bier met wandklevende witte schuimkraag. Geur: gerookte hesp, hoppig, fruitig, wat sinaasappel. Smaak: rook, broodgist, moutzoetig, klein bittertje. Licht tot medium mondgevoel. Afdronk: zoetig – bitterig. Het aspect “rook” is duidelijk aanwezig, maar niet overheersend, wat het aangenaam maakt.

Murky amber color with beige head. Aroma has sweet malt, ripe fruits and a bit of caramel. Taste starts slightly sweet, a bit nutty with a slight smokiness in the background. Medium body and carbonation. Interesting beer overall, not very complex but it’s quite tasty.
