COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Superb dry stout with vanilla and smoke notes. Brewed with a portion of Weyermann Oak Smoked Wheat Malt, and whole Madagascar and Réunion vanilla beans that have been added twice during the brewing and maturation process, for extra complexity.
This ensures ’Charbon’ is a very pleasantly drinkable dry stout, with an interesting aroma and flavour to treat the real beer enthusiasts.

Bottle. Dark mahogany with a light brown head. Initially pretty intense smoked aroma but then it gets confusing with the vanilla and sweetness coming through, the chocolate and coffee grinds are ok but this is strange. Mild body and moderate carbonation, at the end the vanilla fades and you end up with more smoke...think I would prefer this without the vanilla.

Bottle of 75cl, in a Trappist glass; room-temperature. A fuckn great smoke/vanilla stout, really a particular, special taste. Beautiful colour, incredible aroma. Just do it !

On tap @Luppolo Station (Rome). Nera, densa, impenetrabile, schiuma color cenere e cappuccino. Al naso sentori di cioccolato, frutta matura, datteri, vaniglia, con leggere note affumicate. In bocca è ricca e complessa, davvero ben fatta, appagante, dolce con finale caffettoso e leggermente amarognolo, affumicato leggero. Corpo medio-alto, carbonazione medio-leggera. Molto buona.

330mL bottle from International Beer Collector. BB Nov 2018 Pours a near black body, holds a creamy tan head. Great aroma - lots of wood smoke, vanilla, coffee, chocolate, rich caramel, sort of vinous undertones. Body is quite thick, slick, smooth, good weight. reasonably well carbonated. More savoury on the body - dry roast coffee, cocoa, vanilla in good measure, earthy minerally smoke, dry finish, fair bitterness. An interesting brew overall.

At a ttasting, thanks, small creamy head, cloudy very dark brown color, chocolate and vanila aroma with sweet chocolate drink powder. flavor of vanila and metal with some vegetables and hints of mud in the back. Nice aroma but flavor a letdown, also a but too heavy.

Bottle sample at a tasting at troubles' place. Thanks zvikar. Dark brown. Oxidation, vanilla, roast, very faint smokiness, cardboard, some dark fruits, sweet, yeast. Seems old.

Tap at Before 9's Belgian Event. De dochter Charbon I am pretty sure one of my friend's works at this brewery... It is a deep chocolate brown color with a beige head and a treacle sweet molasses aroma. Medium to full bodied with a dry finish. The taste features a light fudge, smoked oak and perhaps even mild tobacco leaf. Drinks much lighter than the aroma would have you believe. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
