Bouteille. Couleur brun foncé à reflets et mousse beige relativement persistante. Le nez est sans contestation possible sur le bois (le chêne, bien sûr), le fumé et l'alcool. La bouche maltée, fumée est très boisée : la tourbe mais aussi le raisin. Je suis assez d'accord avec Laiti et Tiang qui parlent du whisky Laphroaig ... Bière élaborée, intéressante mais trop axée sur les caractères alcool/bois à mon goût.

Bottle shared at THT. Slight gusher. Very dark brown with big but short lasting light brown head. Lots of peat up front, some red berries, red wine, caramel, toffee, light coffee, dead leaves. Medium sweet, under medium bitter and light sour. Over medium bodied. It’s very peaty, but underneath it’s very interesting. Could do with less peat though.

Sampled from bottle at THT March at Kwartje. Black with light cream head. Big sweet and deep roasted malts, rye, peat, old sailors tobacco, rotten wood, vegetal notes, wood, raisans, other dried fruit. Quite strange but interesting. Moderate sweet and bitter. Medium body, bit milky texture. Fun complex stuff.

Bottle shared at the March THT. Pours a reddish dark brown. It has the dark fruits and caramel from a Belgian ale covered in oaky peat. Smooth for such a heavy peat. Medium sweet, light bitter, heavy peat. Medium body, low carbonation.

Bottle shared at the March THT. Dark brown pour, hazy, with a thin tan head. Notes of sour barrel, peat, whiskey, smoke, tobacco. Medium body, light carbonation. Quite nice, the ardbeg goes well with the dried fruit and sweetness of the base beer.

66 cl bottle. Bottled on 06/2014.
Pours dark red-brown color with a small head. Burnt malts and wood on the nose, peat is strongly present, earthy, spices. Flavor is sticky sweet caramel-y and toffee, some earthy spiciness. Weirdly this is slightly worse compare to Laphroaig version.

Vertical with Laphroiag Appearance is significantly darker than Laphroiag. Aroma has sweet malty tones, strong peat, licorice and . A slight disappoitment, as a big Ardbeg fan I’d expect even more. This is just too sweet and lacks the drinkability Laphroiag version has. Unusual, I dislike the Laphroiag due its sweetness but in this case it is vice versa.

650ml bottle. Bottled JUN 2014. Vertical with Laphroaig BA version. Pours dark brown, almost black with a smooth head. Aroma of berries, ripe fruits, hints of oak, wood, peat, whisky and leather. Taste is sweet, malty and slightly yeasty with some berries, toffee, ripe fruits, raisins, oak, wood, leather and peat. Finish is sweet, malty and earthy with loads of ripe fruits, berries, raisins, hints of yeast, leather, peat and wood. A lot more balanced and beer-like compared to the Laphroaig version.

Botteld Juni 2014. Donkerbruin bier met een robijnrode gloed en weinig beige schuim. Geur: geturfde whisky, licht zoet, bittere chocolade, rood fruit, gerookte ham. Smaak: aardse smaak, ongezouten en niet gegrilde pinda’s, licht zoet. Lichte koolzuurprikkel. Volmondig. Afdronk: geturfde whisky en as.
