Aged 4.3 years. Smoke throughout, more (and with floaties) in the finish. Dark colour. Sour, peaty aroma. Maybe diminished on ageing? Smooth nouthfeel. Yves (3208) - Turnhout, BELGIUM - NOV 4, 2015
UPDATED: FEB 9, 2018 Shared with Wim at my home. Black colored beer with large diminishing brownish. Smoked malty roasted aroma. Full creamed palate. Finish is malty coffee smoked. Alengrin (5996) - BELGIUM - AUG 8, 2015
UPDATED: NOV 19, 2016 One of the elaborations of Embrasse, the Dochter’s quadrupel style ale, this one having been aged in Ardbeg barrels. Deep reddish bronze, hazy colour under a dense, frothy, yellowish beige head. Aroma has chocolate, bayleaf, caramel, banana, candied dates, caramel, medlar, overripe pear and wood, but is totally dominated by a very strong iodine smell representing the peat - way too much for my taste, I have nothing against peated whisky, but I cannot say I enjoy the smell of iodine. Sweet, candied taste, dates, banana, candied orange, very soft, full and ’fluffy’ mouthfeel, honeyish and caramelly malts, some earthy hops in the finish, drying woody tannins, a glow of warming whisky-like alcohol, lingering malt sweetness and even candi sugar sweetness, but most of all, that peat - iodine aroma returning retronasally - and ruining it for me. Interesting and complex for sure, but way too much iodine for my taste, reminding me of a Laphroaig barrel aged imperial stout from Jopen, which had the same issue for me. freretoc (1935) - Besançon, FRANCE - MAY 1, 2015

Appearance: Dark brown body, small tan head
Aroma: Smack of peat, smoke, dark fruit
Taste: Smoked meat, peat, dark fruit, leather, caramel malt, more balanced than expected from aroma
Palate: Medium body, some alcohol
Bottle. Murky brown color, tan head. Strong smoky, meaty aroma. Soy sauce flavor (umami) with smoke and salty notes. Medium-full body, medium carbonation. I really couldn't enjoy this at all: the meatiness was overpowering. And I *like* meat! Moolesen (634) - NETHERLANDS - JAN 23, 2015
Bottle 66cl. Pitch black with a beige head. Strong peatded nose with hints of iodine. Extreme strong taste of peat. This is a beer which you either love or dislike. For me this works great. Very long finish. SirLimpsalot (4775) - SWEDEN - JAN 10, 2015
@ Eddan 15-1-10: riktigt trevlig doft. Smaken är ganska het. Stora whiskeytoner. Mycket malt. Men en fin balans.

Dark brown, almost black. Some yeast floating in the beer, thin head. Aroma is a peat bomb. Slightly rustic, serious stuff, how can they do this in Benelux? Taste feels as if I am biting tar. Thick, warming, alcohol is also there but this is not a normal drink. Too massive - but in a good way. Aftertaste is peated, lasts long. Tobacco. I guess this beer is divisive, you either like it or hate it. I like it.
