UPDATED: JUL 17, 2014 Bottled from Mitra Bunnik, batch Sept 2013, large sample, served in a tulip glass. Almost clear dark brown color, short frothy head. Aroma of some chocolate and dark malts, slight spicy yeast, and quite a lot peaty ardbeg whisky. Slight sweet in taste, bit dry. Ardbeg overpowers the base beer quite a lot, without being harsh and dry peated, though it is still a lot of peat. Basebeer is apparently not powerful enough to carry the dominating peat. Uber over the top peaty nose. Licking an ashtray in a smoker’s compartment in a train, while someone cooks meat over charcoal would be much more subtle than this. The base beer is totally lost. Bottled. Pours clear, deep amber with a small, beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, wood, chocolate, caramel, dried fruit and whiskey notes, Sweet flavor that ends up dry with some bitterness. Medium bodied, watery to oily texture and soft carb. An excellent brew.

flavor is roasted malts, peat smoked, wood, sweet notes, bitterness from wood and malts. good smoked strong ale, but you have to like peat smoked beer.
