I had this at Max’s tap house in Baltimore for the Belgian beer fest. it was awesome! Smokey malt and bacon flavor after-taste... This is a man’s beer to sip in a relaxed state of mind. The full thick texture and presence of dark resin taste from the barrel aging makes this slightly semi sweet beer is really nice. The alcohol is well balanced and wonderful! , 660 ml. Head: delicate, beige foam. Colour: clear, ruby brown. Aroma: smoked, bitter sweet. Taste: smoked, bitter sweet. Palate: mild, lasting bitter sweet bdy. Overall: very nice. Like to see it developing over the years.
375ml bottle. Dark brown/red with small grey head. Nose : smoke, alcohol, chocolate, dried fruits, mostly plums. Sweet. Sip : thick body, oily texture. Low carbonation. Sweet chocolate and smoked wood are the main flavours dominating from the start. Alcohol taste remonds me the one from aged rhum or whysky. Fruits and chocolate are revealed next and last long. Présence d’un mince col beige mousseux et d’une fine dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de caramel et de petit fruit avec une pointe de tourbe fumée. Longue durée de l’arrière goût. As a lover of peat and beer, this was really enjoyable. Id be happy with only a small amount though. A touch sweet. Alot of peat. Nice chewiness and breadiness to it. Loved it overall

UPDATED: MAY 12, 2013 660 ml bottle - aged for two years in perfect cellar conditions - pours murky brown with amber hints; creamy head - beige like a caffe latte. Aroma of roasted nuts, soy sauce, plums, coffee, a bit of peat but very nice and balanced, subtle. Medium body with just a tad too much sweetness that covers a bit too much the peated effect. Taste is going to a quad; bread, malt and a tad of peatiness. LIKE!

Bottle. Pours dark brown with tan brown head. Nose and taste is peat, barbecued pork, smoked oak, whiskey, dark caramel, dark chocolate and peated malt. Peat smoke is sagaciously integrated to this dessert brew’s pillowy, rich mouthfeel, giving life to subtle berries and raisins with the help of bready yeast and malts.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A gorgeous creamy layer of foam (even in a chalice) sticks to the darkest brown.
-Alcohol is well hidden throughout.
-Complexity may not be out of this world, but simple wealth, perfectly showcased in the softest of mouthfeels, will always get me.
-This is like a beautiful Quad with peat smoke. A dreamy blend.
Bomber shared a GRM’s. Strong Islay smokiness, rich dark dried fruits, iodine, brine, treacle and molasses notes, quite pleasant. Medium body, somewhat relaxed effervescence. More strong Scotch smoke, brine, iodine, good rich malt support, pretty heavy stuff; sweet with fair bitterness and a long, smoky, inky, full fruity malt finish. Gorgeous.
