Wrapped bottle, striped red paper with sticker "Peated whiskey cask" on the lower right end of the "logo"
An 9% ABV beer in which the fermented sugars were all obtained from malt (20 degrees Plato). A generous dose of hops and a long maturation time makes this beer best of the best. This beer is bottle conditioned and will go through taste evolution during many years. Selected by the brewer from his best peated whisky casks. Matured for a quarter of a year. Winner of the Zythos Beer Festival (ZBF) consumer prize 2011. (Translation by Martinus)

Bottle from Gator Beverage in Gainesville. Wrapped in red paper for extra super fanciness. Pours dark brown with a one finger yellowish creamy kahki head that lingers for a bit. A bit of ruby on the sides in the light. Smell is all peat, paint thinner, wood. Yikes, complex but does not smell like something you should drink. Flavor is straight up peat whiskey and motor oil. Nothing Belgian about this. A little fruit comes out after your palate gets used to the smokey peat. No reason for this to be in a bomber size. Share it. Let it warm up, too. Fruit flavors come out as it warms. Really need to be in the mood for this. I can appreciate the whiskey, but not what I was looking for when I popped a Belgian brew. Pretty much the opposite.

I had this at Maxs tap house in Baltimore for the Belgian beer fest. it was awesome! Smokey malt and bacon flavor after-taste... This is a mans beer to sip in a relaxed state of mind. The full thick texture and presence of dark resin taste from the barrel aging makes this slightly semi sweet beer is really nice. The alcohol is well balanced and wonderful!

375ml bottle. Dark brown/red with small grey head. Nose : smoke, alcohol, chocolate, dried fruits, mostly plums. Sweet. Sip : thick body, oily texture. Low carbonation. Sweet chocolate and smoked wood are the main flavours dominating from the start. Alcohol taste remonds me the one from aged rhum or whysky. Fruits and chocolate are revealed next and last long. Very nice and delicious.

As a lover of peat and beer, this was really enjoyable. Id be happy with only a small amount though. A touch sweet. Alot of peat. Nice chewiness and breadiness to it. Loved it overall

A hazed reddish copper ale with a thick brown head. In aroma, smokey peated caramel malt with treacle, wood extract, dark fruits, interessing. In mouth, uber peated with iodine, woodm herbas, nice alcohol, whiskey-like.Tasted at GRMs tasting.

UPDATED: MAY 12, 2013 660 ml bottle - aged for two years in perfect cellar conditions - pours murky brown with amber hints; creamy head - beige like a caffe latte. Aroma of roasted nuts, soy sauce, plums, coffee, a bit of peat but very nice and balanced, subtle. Medium body with just a tad too much sweetness that covers a bit too much the peated effect. Taste is going to a quad; bread, malt and a tad of peatiness. LIKE! ------ a fresh off the shelve 2013 version. Sampled at +15C. Delicious vanilla and cream aromas (vanilla pudding), sweet oak, and caramel and malts. Huge beer, seriously underestimated.
