Wrapped bottle, striped red paper with sticker "Peated whiskey cask" on the lower right end of the "logo"
An 9% ABV beer in which the fermented sugars were all obtained from malt (20 degrees Plato). A generous dose of hops and a long maturation time makes this beer best of the best. This beer is bottle conditioned and will go through taste evolution during many years. Selected by the brewer from his best peated whisky casks. Matured for a quarter of a year. Winner of the Zythos Beer Festival (ZBF) consumer prize 2011. (Translation by Martinus)

{thoughts} Unfortunately shy aroma compared to the other versions. Beyond that, everything integrates well in a uniquely peaty experience.

{elements} Garnet-brown hue; thick, tan froth. Shy aroma of peat, vanilla, coffee and toasted walnuts. Moderate-heavy sweetness, light acidity, light-moderate acidity; smooth roast, chocolate and peat with the peat continuing well into the aftertaste. Creamy texture, soft carbonation, medium-full body. 22 oz bottle @ GP Tuulensuu.

UPDATED: DEC 25, 2017 Bottle. Good peaty nose, taking barrel aged to some kind of logical conclusion. But is it really an enjoyable drink? Despite the refinement and producing a beer that carries the overwhelming peatiness without losing all else, I'm not totally convinced. Interesting and well done but not my thing.

Bottle (thanks harri). Pours dark amber-black. Aroma is sweet, malt, roast, smight peat. Flavor is sweet and bitter, peat, malt, metallic notes. Finish is sweet and malty. Body is on the thinner sideOverall: good.

Bottle shared by a friend. Clear brown pour with a thick tan head. Nose of band-aid, smoke and caramel. Malt and band-aid flavor with a medicinal finish. Not my thing.

Colore tonaca di frate, schiuma poca ma compatta. Sentori di uvetta, prugna, biscotti, legno e malti tostati. Il sapore rispecchia l’olfatto, con note accennate di cioccolato ed un marcato carattere affumicato ma non invadente. Corpo medio lievemente carbonata, finale dolce. Una birra con un aroma notevole, che non delude al palato.

Many thanks for this Amazing beer to tderoeck. 660ml Bottle (Nr. 12099) from 01 February 2011. Wyglad papier zgrabnie zwiniety i zszyty z przewieszka. Wyglad cieczy poczatkowo ciemno bursztynowo-czerwona. Po dolaniu pokaznej ilosci osadu bardzo ciemno brazowe, nie przezroczystej barwy. Zapach zwala z nog jest torf, ziemistosc, wilgotna piwnica, nieco palonej gumy. W smaku sliwka w czekoladzie mlecznej, rozpuszczone kukulki, melasa, syrop klonowy, lody o smaku tiramisu i slodkawe pierniki Norymberskie. Nieco korzennych przypraw, whisky, nieco wedzonej sliwki, slodycz czekolady mlecznej. Alkohol po tych wszystkich smakach cudownie rozgrzewa, ale tylko chwilowo. Piana srednia i srednio trwala, bezowa. Po dluzszej chwili od przelkniecia do wszystkich tych smakow dolaczaja kasztany jadalne, jakby pieczone nad dymem z drzewnym i popite kwaskowa czarna kawa. Mimo ciut dominujacej tu jednak slodyczy to piwo jest fantastycznie genialne. Big thanks to Tim. Great beer.

Body: Medium to full body, low carbonation.
Flavour: Peat, malt, smoked, some dried fruit.

April 22, 2017. Bottle at home.
Dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is peated and malty with toffee, some dried fruits notes Taste is sweet, malty, peated smooth bitter. Medium bodied, Finish is smooth malty, some dried fruits, soft peat.

ALIBALI (2707) - Kiel, GERMANY - FEB 4, 2017
Unbedingt ohne Bodensatz trinken. Dem kantigen Original werden durch die Islayfasslagerung die Falten aus dem Rock geschlagen. Das Ergebnis ist ein ganz anderes Bier. Rauch, Phenol und Kotzduft im Kolben. Süßholzflair und der unvermeidliche Karamelspirit dann während des dezent angesäuerten Torftrunkes. Klasse und zum Finish mit einer wohlig wärmenden Kaminbieralkoholschärfe, inklusive leichter Lakritzspuren. Ausgewogen, aber auch ein wenig zu unaufdringlich 😁. Bomber from FINEST BELGIUM BEER. Ca. 10 Okken.

Robe brune, fine mousse. Nez marqué par le coté single malt, des notes iodées et fumées sur un fond malté. Bouche à l’attaque ample, puissante, le coté fumé domine l’attaque de bouche, belle bulle onctueuse et finale ample et équilibrée. Une bière d’hiver à siroter au coin de feu.

O+N 16-17 gedeeld met lion. Bruin met ene crème kraag. Geur en smaak met trekdrop, salmiak tabak en gist. Volle body, peat op de achtergrond.
