jerohen (2310) - Bussum, NETHERLANDS - MAR 22, 2013
Bottled from biernavigatie.nl. Very dark brown colored, lasting beige head. Very roasted nose, malts, rye, coffee. Malty flavor, lots of rye, coffee, hops. Lasting bitter finish, dry. I’ve tasted the Ardbeg version before, and in that version i almost couldn’t taste any beer anymore. It’s good to see that the base is actually pretty good.

olio (10375) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAR 9, 2013
66 cl bottle. Bottled on 04/2011. Bottle No. 14393.
Originally rated on 20101029. (8-3-7-3-16)
Pours dark clear mahogany color with a large off-white head. Aroma of sweet caramel, lots of ripe fruits, lots of malts also, mild yeasty notes, subtle hints of toffee and vanilla. Some wooden notes on the background.
Flavor is quite malty and a bit nutty, sweet caramel and toffee are there also, plums and dates too. Flavor finishes a bit grassy and woody. Some nice licorice notes appear as the beer warms up. Sweet malty palate with a dry and somewhat sourish finish. A lot smoother compared to a fresh bottle two years ago. Very nice.

Dark reddish cola color, with a decent foam. Sweet aromas of dark fruits and roasted malt. Dark fruity taste, some caramel and a dry roasted malt aftertaste. Very nice beer.

330ml bottle from Beernavigator

BBE Juli 2015 - Pours dark brown, almost black with a tiny head. Aroma of sweetish malts, ripe fruits, plums, hints of spices and anise. Taste is smooth, malty and syrupy with sweetish ripe fruity notes, hints of berries and rye. Finish is sticky and sweetish with some malty notes and hints of ripe fruits. Okay, quite complex but a bit unbalanced Belgian strong ale.

Pours a huge frothy light brown head that mostly lasts. Body is black with sparkles visible. Aroma contains roasted malts, caramel, mild coffe, lemon, soy sauce and licorice. Flavors are sweet going to bitter. Finish is long. Body is medium, texture is smooth. Carbonation is soft to flat. It's quite subtle but not very complex. A bit too much of the licorice and too little of the fruits for my taste.

Tap at Max’s. Pours clear dark brown with ruby highlights and a medium, frothy light tan head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is caramel, smoke and toast malt with earthy hops and prune esters. Flavor is malt dominant with light hops and bitterness, dark fruity esters, and a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

(Rating #4617)

Boutip (6397) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 22, 2013
Bottle: Poured a dark hazy brown color ale with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of dried fruits with some notes of roasted malt and light black chocolate notes is pretty unique. Taste is alike a mix between a Belgian Strong ale and a stout with some chocolate and roasted malt notes providing some bitterness and some dried fruit with residual sugar providing a sweeter side to this offering. Body is full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Interesting experiment though not something I would feel the need to drink on a regular basis.
