In our hunger to explore the true taste of an original IPA, we went back to the very roots of IPA: England around 1830. This beer is made with 100% ’Maris Otter’ malt and East Kent Golding hop flowers (a lot!)

Then, to monitor the development of flavours during barrel-aging the beer is/will be bottled after: half a year; one year and one and a half year of barrel-aging (in Puligny Montrachet barrels). For comparison the beer is also bottled without the barrel aging.

So 4 batches will be released as an experiment. The release dates will be: End April 2014; end october 2014 and finally with the full 1 1/2 years of barrel-aging by the end of April 2015. I hope you enjoy a truly magnificant beer-style that was almost forgotten, but has a real revival lately.

Bottle with silver wax.
Bronze wax is 0.5 year old, gold wax will be the 1.5 year old version.

Bottle BBE 2/2017. Semiclear bronze. Dusty, malt body with some fruit. Red berries, slightly sour. Interesting.

matbli (390) - Poznań, POLAND - MAY 29, 2017
Bottle, pours hazy orange with high, pillowy and extremly stable white heat. After 10 minutes there is still a perfect white head on top. Aroma of caramel, apricot, white wine, oak wood, hay, orange and pine. Nicely balanced with malty sweetness in the beginning that goes over into some tartness and a light but long bitter finish. Very easy drinkable.

Bottle from a friend. Amber color, white head. Bitter taste with grapefruit, hops, caramel, resin, toffee and grass. Bitter finish with grapefruit, toffee, caramel, hops, ripe fruits and grass. Very nice brew.

Piana dość obfita, mydlana, ale długo pozostaje w postaci chmurki. Barwa złoto pomarańczowa, lekko mętna. Aromat kojarzy się z białym winem, jasnym winogronem, żywicą, w tle cytrusy, kwiaty i świeże drewno. W smaku rześkie, lekko kwaskowe, lekko winne, winogronowe, cytrusowe, delikatnie cierpkie, mocno chmielowe, ze świerkowo grejpfrutową, solidną goryczką. Średnie wysycenie, nieźle ukryty alkohol.
Piwo nieźle pijalne, fajnie nacechowane nutami z barrel agingu, przypomina troszkę Widawa X BA Nitro IPA czy Widawa The Spirit of Sonoma.

Inoven (746) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - MAY 14, 2017
Fles gedeeld met TomHendriksen. Roodachtig troebel bier. Aroma van sinaasappelschil en hout. Smaak is licht bitter en fruitig. Nasmaak is bitter. Goede boddy.

TomHendriksen (514) - NETHERLANDS - MAY 14, 2017
Fles gedeeld door Inoven. Het is een troebel oranje geel bier met weinig schuim. Het heeft een lekkere zoet bittere smaak. Door het agen is ’t scherpe van de hop wat afgevlakt. Een erg lekker bier!

vami (455) - Poznan, POLAND - APR 30, 2017
Malts, caramel, a bit of wine and fruits character. Not my style of IPA definitely. Boring.

Bov (12636) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - APR 26, 2017
from Craftgallery - quite clear bronze-orange beer with a little beige foam left; fairly woody, strong sour aroma of apples, quinces and resin; full-bodied, sweet, light sticky and fairly bitter; fruity and piney, woody finish - long lingering bitterness

ALIBALI (2085) - Kiel, GERMANY - MAR 17, 2017
Aprikosenmann der erdig britischen Sorte. Elegant werden hier die Holzaromen in den Wonderbrew entlassen. Kantiger als das 1,5er. 0,15l vom Hahn im BROUWCAFE DE MOLEN:

SVD (1977) - NETHERLANDS - FEB 16, 2017
Draft at triple tap takeover at de molen, Orange beer, small head. Aroma is malt, white wine, oak. Taste is the same, ok beer.
