COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In our hunger to explore the true taste of an original IPA, we went back to the very roots of IPA: England around 1830. This beer is made with 100% ’Maris Otter’ malt and East Kent Golding hop flowers (a lot!)

Then, to monitor the development of flavours during barrel-aging the beer is/will be bottled after: half a year; one year and one and a half year of barrel-aging (in Puligny Montrachet barrels). For comparison the beer is also bottled without the barrel aging.

So 4 batches will be released as an experiment. The release dates will be: End April 2014; end october 2014 and finally with the full 1 1/2 years of barrel-aging by the end of April 2015. I hope you enjoy a truly magnificant beer-style that was almost forgotten, but has a real revival lately.

Bottle with silver wax.
Bronze wax is 0.5 year old, gold wax will be the 1.5 year old version.

Bottle, 500 ml at MBR, Kiselo Druženje. Shared with others. Hazy golden, white head. Fruity citrus, orange, malty, apricot. Sourish note. Unpleasant bitterness in finish. Sweetish.

@ BCBF Aroma is orange zest. Taste is orange zest. Bitter hops and fruity taste. Palate is very nice. Full body. Not my thing.

UPDATED: NOV 26, 2017 Finally something very different from the regular west coast IPAs and IIPAs. Very elegant beer, oaky with a very white wine like finish; aroma is more pronounced when it gets less chilled. Definitely has aging potential.

UPDATED: NOV 1, 2017 Goudoranje, nevelig bier met witte schuimkraag. Zuur en vooral een stuk minder bitter dan ik van een IPA verwacht. Aroma van appel, hout, vanille, azijn. Prettige textuur. Mooi bier, maar niet mijn smaak.

Bottle from Beermerchants.com. Bit naughty selling this full price 6 months after the best before date. Reddish brown, good head, fancy bottle. Sour yeasty grain aroma. Sour grain toffee malt flavour. Sour yeasty aftertaste. Not sure if this was off or just how it was meant to be. Didn't like it.

Bottle BBE 2/2017. Semiclear bronze. Dusty, malt body with some fruit. Red berries, slightly sour. Interesting.

Bottle, pours hazy orange with high, pillowy and extremly stable white heat. After 10 minutes there is still a perfect white head on top. Aroma of caramel, apricot, white wine, oak wood, hay, orange and pine. Nicely balanced with malty sweetness in the beginning that goes over into some tartness and a light but long bitter finish. Very easy drinkable.
