A deep orange body with the yeast making it hazy. The off-white head is fluffy and lasts well. Nose has estery yeast notes, citrus fruits, spices and rye. Taste is quite bitter and somewhat harsh with a lingering bitter finish. Soft carbonation and medium palate. Decent hefty belgian with unusually heavy, almost IPA-like, hop bitterness. Nice and drinkable. willisread (4053) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - FEB 6, 2016
Bottle from Tanakaya. Oaky, pithy lemon-forward nose with a lot burned yeast. Bitter on the palate with a slight creamy mouthfeel. Sticks, twigs, grassy hops with an astringent bitter finish that lingers. Some pepper in there too. DanielBrown (4586) - Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, ENGLAND - JAN 22, 2016
Bottle from Drankcentrale Rotsaaert, Zedelgem. Superior stuff. A Belgian Ale which is eons ahead of the most famous beers which populate this style. Fresh, wheaty, yeasty, creamy, biting. superspak (6496) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - JAN 18, 2016
22.4 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 5/2017. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy golden orange color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lemon, tangerine, peach, apricot, pineapple, pear, apple, pepper, pine, light caramel, cracker, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/tropical hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and light-moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, tangerine, peach, apricot, pineapple, pear, apple, pepper, pine, light caramel, cracker, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate piney bitterness and peppery yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, tangerine, peach, apricot, pineapple, pear, apple, pepper, pine, cracker, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/pine hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and light-moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitter/spiciness that increases through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately sticky, and lightly creamy/bready balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Belgian IPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/pine hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and light-moderate bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
