Arabier is a pure malt beer brewed with flower Nugget-hops from Poperinge. It has the special dry-hopping taste and aroma, so appreciated by beer lovers all over the world. It is one of the two main beers from De Dolle Brouwers available throughout the year. Aging time is limited due to the fact that hop bitterness declines with age. Store arabier cool and dark and serve cool at 10C.

Cybion (149) - Kent, ENGLAND - JUN 12, 2016
Bottle, 330 ml. Pours cloudy dark amber with a large amount of fluffy white head. About a finger of the head retains and theres a lot of lacing. Fruity esters on the nose to begin with - banana and apple mostly. Sweet light malt s, Almond/marzipan, orange or orange rind, tropical fruit, something floral or grassy, bit of citrus, slight woody edge. Taste, by comparison seriously ramps up the bitterness; bitterness of a dry, woody, earthen, resinous nature. Almost tastes like a dark malt note, though i think this is entirely from the hops. Some sweeter notes of citrus, apple and sweeter malt up front before the huge bitterness kicks in and lingers for a long while. Some phenolic notes here too - lots of pepper toward the finish. Body is medium, texture is oily/smooth, carbonation is fairly sharp for a while - bit of a tingler, finish is of course very bitter and dry. Ever wondered what a Duvel hopped like a west coast IPA tastes like? This ones for you!

bartlebier (3630) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - MAY 28, 2016
UPDATED: DEC 2, 2016 33cl bottles of the years, always generously foamy and hard to pour with elegance, this one bottled Dec2015. - Pours with more towering foam at the first glass hit than Orval... Bref: the most tropical and fruity tripel-like Belgian strong ale on the traditional side of De Rankes new wave, Poperinge terroir bitters. - Ar: one of the best smelling tripel/Belgian ales tout court, Poperinge Nuggets (orange marmelade, sweet mango even?) seasoned by orchard fruit yeast esters with amazing depth and an earthy edge. Once the dishsoap foam settles very easy to drink, with a tightly composed hop flower bouquet ranging from Westflemish saturated polderland grasses, hay over peach blossom to peppers, honey, bread yeast. Great mouthfeel, not too carbonated and well dry. Came to underestimate this over the years, but it really is in league with De Struises Belgian stout desserts and Orval as a terroir product updated for ever-new palates. - Caveat: Brett ist im Spiel somewhere at De Dolle and no 2 batches or bottles seem the same... // Resampled 33cl bottle with some age on it, maybe 1-2 years: a far cry from the chthonic and tonic proto-Belgian IPA it is fresh, oozing with sweet Marillengeist / Apricot schnaps fumes among the cushiony malts. Odd brett notes add to the perception that some kind of stonefruit brandy/Obstler has been added...

megavherr (1) - Pineto, ITALY - MAY 27, 2016 does not count
One of the best belgian beers i ever had. Red and yellow fruit, bread crust, caramel, phenols, the smell is really complex and structured. The flavour fills the mouth as the nose, very balanced bitterness.

3fourths (9265) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAY 22, 2016
UPDATED: MAY 23, 2016 Bottle-conditioned 33cl stamped March 2016, two+ months. Hazed golden-amber with a rocky white head. Aroma impression is dusty hay, dried herbs, lemon rind, cracked pepper, gum, fruity-tropical esters and basement must. Medium-full bodied, sweet and fruity up front before the carbonation explodes and the sharp bitterness takes hold in a mouth-watering and relentless finish. This is that sort of sticky-scraping-everlasting bitterness that works so well with noble varieties... Knoblach-level hoppy, and with this yeast strain, comparisons could be made to De Ranke XX and XXX.

De Dolle is one of my favorite beer, not because he had been all but for the quality of their beers. Most are wonderful. Arabier fails to lexelencia, segurarment because I like beer and contrasting stronger. All in all, a fantastic beer!
