Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented with native honey. As it is a seasonal beer we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

from bottle. huge gusher. crystal clear golden with a huge fluffy ever growing white head. honey orange zest aroma with light clove. sweet orange and spicy clove dominate the flavor notes of hay. long sweet/tart cooked orange finish with lingering tart orange dry spicy clove. at first over the over the top carbonation explodes in your mouth leaving nothing but foam. quite unpleasant. given the chance to settle the carbonation becomes nice lively but not over the top. without the lively carbonation the beer would possibly seem heavy sweet and sticky.

Bottle. Yellowy gold. Aggressively effervescent (lost half the bottle). Very yeasty (lots of floaties and sediment). Fruity and spicy (orange-citrus, peach, honey). Malty (buttery caramel, cane sugar). Flowery, spicy, peppery hops. Sweetish with a mildly bitter hoppy finish. (2008)

Bottle, 330 ml. Pours moderately cloudy yellow/amber with a huge amount of lively, soapy white head. Lots of visible carbonation (medium bubbles) and some patchy lacing. About one finger of denser head retains. Spicy yeasty notes come through a the front on the nose with a bit of allspice, clove, candied banana and orange. Buttery with some light, fresh honey. Somewhat funky and lightly floral too. Taste is sweet and malty with a big hit of bread, darker honey, and warming spice, salted caramel developing afterwards and leading towards a dry finish with lingering light bitterness and floral notes. Very clean and fresh, avoids becoming sickly. Body is medium, texture is oily and carbonation is fairly mild. Nothing exceptional like the Stille Nacht or Mad Bitch but a fine brew.

330ml bottle at home in Richmond as De Dolle Bos Keun, no ABV or date details. Pours a clear amber, very highly sparkling with a humongous foamy white head. Aroma is candyfloss and honey, caramel, cotton, touch of lily flowers. Body is a little frothy with tingly carbonation. Taste is initially sweet with warming alcohol, spicy, dries out very quickly in the middle and stays dry into the finish, almost a bit papery. In the grand scheme of things, this is a pretty run-of-the-mill Belgian ale.

Cloudy amber color with a big, persistent frothy head. Nose: orange, hebs, esters, spices, moist leaves. Taste is caramel, dough, cereals, alcohol. Creamy, thick mouthfeel. Heavy body, vigorous carbonation, astringent finish. A great example of the style.

Barwa m?tna pomara?czowa z mnstwem dro?d?owych drobinek. Puszysta bia?a piana, wysoka i do?? trwa?a, brzydko p?ka przypominaj?c pian? z detergentw.

March 25, 2016. On tap at Mikkeller Bar Viktoriagade. Vintage 2010 and 2012.
Light hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma is orange, grape skins, hints of almond, warming alcohol, spices and grass. Taste is sweet, light spicy, soft bitter and slightly boozy. Finish is sweet with fruity esters, honey notes, pear, some almond notes, dry grassy bitterness and warming alcohol. Medium bodied, slight creamy texture, soft carbonation.
Good, 2012 is more dry grassy and bitter then 2010 which has more sweet fruity esters and marzipan notes.

Bottle at home. Aroma is spicy yeast, bready pale malt, spices, esters, herbal and sugary notes, some alcohol and a soft touch of fruits. Flavour is sweet and moderate bitter with some noticeable booze. Body is medium with hefty carbonation. A bit too boozy but I like the estery yeasty aroma.
