33 cL bottle. Pours black with a gigantic lasting brown head. Aroma is roasted malty, clear alcohol presence, somewhat dried fruity. Flavour is smoked, burned malt, coffee, some chocolate smoothness and some liqourice sharpness. Slight burning alcohol finish with a classic de dolle yeast presence, a slight acidity blending in with the bitterhops. Complex yet tasty brew. A black beer with a fine light brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of roasted bread. The flavor is rather complex on a background of alcohol it contains prunes, plums, roasted bread, and bitter coffee - before it ends on a dry bitter hop note. A very nice beer. joergen (29007) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUN 2, 2005

Bottled (thanks rlgk). Dark brown colour, huge brown fluffy head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and smoke. Flavour has the same in it. Slightly acidic hopping in the finish in my opinion, but still a very good beer. Travlr (25876) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - NOV 26, 2008
Chewy, chocolatey, bitter, thick stout in the American style. Reminds me of Bell’s Expedition Stout. Should age very well. cgarvieuk (25742) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUL 16, 2007

Bottled. Near black, rich head. Fruity, appley licorice aroma. Dryish with rich butclean mouthfeel and just loasd of licorice. Fairly bitter. Balanced for a Belgian stout. madmitch76 (25382) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JAN 3, 2011

Warning! Early amateur rating! Creamy stout but quite smoky and some worcester sauce sourness going on. Not my favourite Belgian stout!

Old bottle. Hazy deep amber - brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is airy and semi dry. Decent fine carbonation. Tangy oxidised dark malts. Plummy fruitiness. Trace of dark chocolate. Light tangy finish. Interesting!
