bhensonb (15235) - Woodland, California, USA - AUG 6, 2006
Strangely dusky notes, along with chocolate and coffee. The aroma is complex. It’s so dark, the color could be black. The head is massive and it is persistent. The flavor is wonderful, but it is hard to describe. It starts with a surge of aroma, going to a slight hint of chocolate. There is an underlying sour component. Bitterness accompanies the malt, preventing sweetness. It’s wonderful, but not very simple.

Theis (15152) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUL 16, 2006
Bottle at home. Black, light brown head. Sweet, roasted malts, raisins, prunes, licorice, coffee (espresso), a bit sour and some bitterness. Not so smooth and pleasant as I prefer a stout.

Ratman197 (14852) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - APR 23, 2006
Bottle poured a nearly opaque brownish black with a LARGE lasting tan head. Aromas of yeast, bitter chocolate, a bit of licorice and hints of dark fruit. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of sour yeast, bitter chocolate, light licorice and a hint of espresso with a lingering sweet finish. Not a bad stout but it needs more body.

Scopey (14768) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 1, 2012
Bottle from Beer Merchants. It pours opaque black with a thick tan head. The nose is salted caramel, liquorice, plastic, roasted malt, light smoke and coffee grinds. The taste is espresso coffee, roasted malt, light acidity, soft berry, earth, ash, light sourness and liquorice with a dry, roasty finish. Full body, moderate carbonation and velvety mouth-feel. Complex and well balanced. I’m not a great fan of the smell, but it tastes damn delicious.

imdownthepub (14557) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 25, 2016
Keg at La Capsule, Lille, France. Very dark brown with cream head. There is a full on darkly roasted malt body to this, quite heavy on the palate with a roast nut character. Quite complex with fruity hints and a light herby flavour then liquorice. Very enjoyable.

Borup (14548) - Albertslund, DENMARK - APR 26, 2016
From tap at Taphouse. Black with a small tan head. Aroma and flavour of roasted malt, coffee, fruit, caramel, chocolate and alcohol.

Tmoney99 (14497) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 1, 2007
Bottle from River’s Bend. Poured a black color with a huge frothy brown head that lasted and produced good lacing. Good roasted malt and dark fruit aroma. Full body with a smooth sticky texture. Complex roasted dark fruit stout flavor with a medium bittersweet smooth finish of moderate duration. Very well balanced dark fruity stout.

HenrikSoegaard (14176) - Randers, DENMARK - MAY 13, 2007
Bottle. Creamy light borwn excellent fully lasting head. Brown colour. Moderate malty and heavy hoppy aroma. Really great. Moderate bitter flavor but too powerfull coffee-notes. Long finish. Oily palate but way too fizzy.
