Rocky balooning head that sticks around for the whole beer. Dark, but not a black hole by any means. Musty sour aroma with some hints of dark malts: chocolate, roasted, maybe Special B. Some alcohol presence ... not quite a stout, but not quite a belgian dark ale -- the roastiness makes it a definable stout. An interesting juxtaposition of two favorite beer countries.

Dark black with dark tan head. Strong roasted malt aroma, chocolate and spices. Big carbonation, hazelnuts, chocolate, burnt toast. Palate is the same and tastes linger long. Great stout. Quite different from the other De Dolle beers, but a great example of the style. Huge aroma and taste.

Robe noire, mousse brun clair assez abondante, compacte, stable, belle tenue. Nez torréfié, chocolat, légèrement épicé de muscade, légèrement alcooleux. Bouche douce, légèrement épicée, chaleureuse, note de chocolat, touche laiteuse, café, touche anisée. Finale douce, torréfiée, doucement alcooleuse. Corpulence moyenne à épaisse, carbonatation vive. Ronde. Stout complexe, doucement épicé, assez fort, chocolaté.

Dark brown liquid, average, light brown head. Sweet aroma of stout, with a hint of malt. Medium body, strong carbonation. Taste is sweet, stout, licorice.

Draft at Oxbow Blending. Pours black with a khaki head. Leaves trace lacing in the glass. Nice roast and molasses notes on the nose and tongue. Hides it's booze well. Finished clean. Nice.

Bottle at De Heeren van Liedekercke, shared with Anke and Pieter. Labeled 9%.
Pours cloudy black with a lasting, frothy, beige head. The aroma contains licorice, roasted malt, coffee, caramel, hops & spices. It tastes medium to heavy sweet and medium spicy bitter, ending dry & hoppy. Full body, slick/oily texture, fizzy to lively carbonation. Perhaps too "lively on the tongue", and though it's overall very good, the finish is too hoppy to my taste.

4 oz pour on draft at ChurchKey shared by DCLawyer, thanks Jason! Black with light tan head. Aromas of toffee, caramel, cocoa, malt, chocolate. Tastes of cocoa, milk chocolate, malt. Medium-light body with a dry finish.

rodenbachvintage (171) - Roeselare, BELGIUM - AUG 14, 2017
Een zwartgeblakerd mouterige stout. Bittere, zwarte chocoladesmaak, toetsen van tabak en koffie. De gebrande mout overheerst iets teveel voor mij. goede dronk afdronk, zwaar degustatiebier.

vinivini (2998) - Gomel, BELARUS - AUG 10, 2017
Bottle. Opaque deep brown ale with big tan frothy head. Excellent lacing. Aroma: esters, roasted malts, chocolate, dried fruit, minor spice. Medium body. Medium dry taste. Lots of roastiness, dark chocolate, coffee. Dried fruit. A hint of smoke. Alcohol is perfectly hidden. Dangerously drinkable.

matbli (476) - Poznan, POLAND - JUL 23, 2017
Bottle, cloudy dark brown with fast falling beige head. Aroma of milk chocolate cherries, coffee, nuts and some wine’ish notes. In taste medium sweetness with some light roasty bitterness and a slightly sour finish. The carbonation is a bit to high imo but all in all it’s a very pleasant and good drinkable stout.
