COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oerbier means original, from the spring. This beer has been brewed in small scale (5 gallons). Oerbier is brewed from no less than 6 malts. Poperinge Golding hops in flowers and a special yeast which makes it a little tart, especially with aging. At the brewery we have excellent cellars which have a constant temperature of 8C and allow Oerbier to age at its best. After a couple of years Oerbier tastes like it should have been blended with wine Oerbier has been refermented in the bottle and contains a layer of yeast, having vitamins B. NAT en STRAF on the glasses means WET and STRONG, a warning for the 7.5 vol. alcohol content. The little person on the glasses is the Oerbier man, a simple creature who holds a brewers fork in his right hand, symbolizing the work and science, but looking to the other side, the result of all this, the glass of (Oer)beer. The artwork on the poster is a wallpainting found in Spain, (Altamira) and is considered by art lovers as being the best prehistoric art work (30,000 years BC). On the other hand we have Oerbier started in 1980, going on with the tradition. For more information on Oerbier's recent recipe history, see the following article: http://www.bunitedint.com/Products/de_dolle/oerbier-re_evolution.html

0.33 l bottle @ Akkurat, Stockholm. Red-Brown or black depending on the lighting, big head. Dark sweet malts with a sour ending. Tastes like a red dessert wine, which is not just sweet. Not as sour as the Flander oud bruin style, though. Nice for a dessert.

Almost black with ruby highlights. Aroma of treacle, liquorice, sasparilla. Very intriguing. Taste lighter than youd expect. Notes of chocolate, dark fruit, dark caramel, and loads of liquorice that carries into the palate. Very nice.

Not too much aroma, but generally yeasty. Lots of phenols in the taste, some bitter and a touch of sour notes, grapefruit, citrus peel. Starts sweet, finishes bitter and boozy. Lot of alcohol taste. I wasnt super impressed.

Pours opaque dark brown, nearly black, with a gigantic three-finger beige head that lasts a long time. Thin layer of fine yeast sediment is present at the bottom. With that huge head, it brings aromas of fresh apples (honeycrisp), baking spice, roasted malts, & some caramel. Arrives spicy with a mixture of apples (sweet and tart). Malty & roasty middle. Finishes candy sweet (chocolate/caramel) and of course with a kick of alcohol. Lively on the palate without carbonation taking over; medium-bodied, finished long, and surprisingly hot with alcohol at 9%. It doesnt hide the ABV that well and certainly tastes/feels like its in the range of 12-13%.
