COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oerbier means original, from the spring. This beer has been brewed in small scale (5 gallons). Oerbier is brewed from no less than 6 malts. Poperinge Golding hops in flowers and a special yeast which makes it a little tart, especially with aging. At the brewery we have excellent cellars which have a constant temperature of 8°C and allow Oerbier to age at its best. After a couple of years Oerbier tastes like it should have been blended with wine … Oerbier has been refermented in the bottle and contains a layer of yeast, having vitamins B. NAT en STRAF on the glasses means WET and STRONG, a warning for the 7.5 vol. alcohol content. The little person on the glasses is the Oerbier man, a simple creature who holds a brewers fork in his right hand, symbolizing the work and science, but looking to the other side, the result of all this, the glass of (Oer)beer. The artwork on the poster is a wallpainting found in Spain, (Altamira) and is considered by art lovers as being the best prehistoric art work (30,000 years BC). On the other hand we have Oerbier started in 1980, going on with the tradition. For more information on Oerbier's recent recipe history, see the following article: http://www.bunitedint.com/Products/de_dolle/oerbier-re_evolution.html

Poured into tulip a brown color with decent off white head. One of the most interesting beers I have had, very complex. Aroma for me was roasted malts, some nut, wood, wine, all together it had an aroma similar to a good brewed soy sauce. Taste was similar to the aroma. the beer was yeasty and had a port or sherry flavor. Alcohol for me came late in the finish and was warming to some extant. The alcohol seemed well blended till that point. I get some soy sauce also in the finish. Med bodied and quite wet, a little too easy to drink, like that is a problem. Incredible.

[email protected], Tampere, Finland. Strong, soft nuances of dark fruits like plum and fig, toffee. Some dark sugar. Earthy and a bit funky feeling. Some boozy aromas. Balanced. Wide/medium taste spectrum and medium/short aftertaste with slightly sour dark fruits. Overall, reference quality with soft touch. A bit sterile and non distictive character though. 8 4 7 5 16

The murky, mahogany hues ale pours with so much frothy foam it spills out a tulip glass. Aroma is yeasty and funky. The flavor is malty, syrupy and heavy. Notes of brown sugar and coffee. Finish is particularly long and nuanced, nutty and boozy, yet rounded by the aging. An exceptional traditional abbey style. Cheers DD Brouwers!

Colore marrone, schiuma abbondante compatta e persitente.

Citrusy smell. Taste dark, citrus and yeast. And pretty bitter. Yeast taste in the background. Not a big revolution if you ask me but might need cellaring. This is only 9-10 months old. citrus, spruce, herbs, dark brown color, medium sweetness, medium to heavy bitterness, medium sourness, medium body, oily feel.

Bottle, pours dark brown with a large foamy head reducing to a lasting creamy lace. Aroma is caramel, toffee apple, dark forest fruits. Body is light medium, airy palate with a creamy texture, soft carbonation and a great balanced fruity finish with light bitterness.

Brown amber pour with a full sized tan head. Beautiful aroma of roasted malts, plum, figs, caramel/butterscotch, funky yeast, blue cheese, freshly baked dark brown breadcrust. Amazingly complex. Taste perfect sweet and bitter. Slight acidity in the finish with the alcohol so well hidden. Body medium but a bit overdone on the bubblies. Top notch.

Bottle. Dark redbrown with a big beige head. A complex beer with plum, yeast, dark fruits and spices. A very good beer with a great aftertaste.
