COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oerbier means original, from the spring. This beer has been brewed in small scale (5 gallons). Oerbier is brewed from no less than 6 malts. Poperinge Golding hops in flowers and a special yeast which makes it a little tart, especially with aging. At the brewery we have excellent cellars which have a constant temperature of 8°C and allow Oerbier to age at its best. After a couple of years Oerbier tastes like it should have been blended with wine … Oerbier has been refermented in the bottle and contains a layer of yeast, having vitamins B. NAT en STRAF on the glasses means WET and STRONG, a warning for the 7.5 vol. alcohol content. The little person on the glasses is the Oerbier man, a simple creature who holds a brewers fork in his right hand, symbolizing the work and science, but looking to the other side, the result of all this, the glass of (Oer)beer. The artwork on the poster is a wallpainting found in Spain, (Altamira) and is considered by art lovers as being the best prehistoric art work (30,000 years BC). On the other hand we have Oerbier started in 1980, going on with the tradition. For more information on Oerbier's recent recipe history, see the following article: http://www.bunitedint.com/Products/de_dolle/oerbier-re_evolution.html

Brown colour, very good creamy head. Fruity aroma (peach and apricots). The flavour is pleasantly sweet with caramel, raisins, apricots, pineapple and apple traces. The finish is quite spicy and alcoholic. Great complexity but not perfectly balanced.

Brown amber pour with a full sized tan head. Beautiful aroma of roasted malts, plum, figs, caramel/butterscotch, funky yeast, blue cheese, freshly baked dark brown breadcrust. Amazingly complex. Taste perfect sweet and bitter. Slight acidity in the finish with the alcohol so well hidden. Body medium but a bit overdone on the bubblies. Top notch.

Bottle. Dark redbrown with a big beige head. A complex beer with plum, yeast, dark fruits and spices. A very good beer with a great aftertaste.

Un "must drink" absolu. Bouteille 33cl, Boissons du Monde, Saint-Egrève.

Bottle, 33cL. 9%. Purchase ("saveur-biere.com", FR). Home. A sparkling dark brown beer with a medium beige foamy head ; good retention ; ok lacing. Roast, biscuit, light caramel, prune, licorice notes, gingerbread. Light to medium sweet, light dry sour refreshing, bitter note. Medium body, light to medium texture, average to soft carbonation, sweet roasty acid finish. Overall, delicious ! Not especially with this beer but in general, many people argues that "wow, the alcohol is well hidden". I don't think this is a good thing ; I would have loved more warming "background" such as in a Rochefort 8.

11.2oz bottle. Pours black with a large tan head. Aroma is malty and lightly tart; plum, light clove, some yeast, nutmeg, and red wine. Taste is cocoa (nibs), wine, caramel, plum, Belgian yeast, light spice, fig, and very light roast. Some alcohol. Very, very lightly sour. Medium-full body. Medium carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel.

ozzatoadisback (208) - ITALY - OCT 9, 2017
A not too attractive murky dark brown with a quite big and solid white head that shows nice retention and lacing. Good enough intensity in the aroma with caramel, sugar, dark fruits, cherry, slight tartness and a vinous hint. Taste follows the aroma with sweetness getting the main stage, expecially with a distinct sugary feel, and slight vinous tartness to balance. Also has a quite persistent sugary/sweet aftertaste. Medium bodied with quite high carbonation in an overall still soft mouthfeel. Overall quite easily drinkable for it's abv. A not too standard belgian strong dark and overall a solid one.

Dark brown liquid, large head. Sweet aroma of malt, fruity hint. Medium body, little bit carbonation. Taste is sweet.
