COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oerbier means original, from the spring. This beer has been brewed in small scale (5 gallons). Oerbier is brewed from no less than 6 malts. Poperinge Golding hops in flowers and a special yeast which makes it a little tart, especially with aging. At the brewery we have excellent cellars which have a constant temperature of 8°C and allow Oerbier to age at its best. After a couple of years Oerbier tastes like it should have been blended with wine … Oerbier has been refermented in the bottle and contains a layer of yeast, having vitamins B. NAT en STRAF on the glasses means WET and STRONG, a warning for the 7.5 vol. alcohol content. The little person on the glasses is the Oerbier man, a simple creature who holds a brewers fork in his right hand, symbolizing the work and science, but looking to the other side, the result of all this, the glass of (Oer)beer. The artwork on the poster is a wallpainting found in Spain, (Altamira) and is considered by art lovers as being the best prehistoric art work (30,000 years BC). On the other hand we have Oerbier started in 1980, going on with the tradition. For more information on Oerbier's recent recipe history, see the following article: http://www.bunitedint.com/Products/de_dolle/oerbier-re_evolution.html

So I opened the bottle and it gushes. "Sheesh, $6 for a bad bottle," I think, but it turns out to taste pretty good, though I am quite annoyed at having lost some of this expensive beer. Aromas are fruity (apples, pears candied apricots), spices (allspice, clove), and the flavor is that plus some acidic prunes. A nice beer.

Fles. Volle krachtige smaak. Goed zwaar, maar smaakvol bier. (oud eerdere aantekeningen)

tapefuzz (760) - Massachusetts, USA - OCT 11, 2017
11.2oz bottle. Pours black with a large tan head. Aroma is malty and lightly tart; plum, light clove, some yeast, nutmeg, and red wine. Taste is cocoa (nibs), wine, caramel, plum, Belgian yeast, light spice, fig, and very light roast. Some alcohol. Very, very lightly sour. Medium-full body. Medium carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel.

ozzatoadisback (200) - ITALY - OCT 9, 2017
A not too attractive murky dark brown with a quite big and solid white head that shows nice retention and lacing. Good enough intensity in the aroma with caramel, sugar, dark fruits, cherry, slight tartness and a vinous hint. Taste follows the aroma with sweetness getting the main stage, expecially with a distinct sugary feel, and slight vinous tartness to balance. Also has a quite persistent sugary/sweet aftertaste. Medium bodied with quite high carbonation in an overall still soft mouthfeel. Overall quite easily drinkable for it's abv. A not too standard belgian strong dark and overall a solid one.

Het is een donker roodbruin bier met een volle schuimkraag. Het heeft een moutige sterke smaak.

Aus der Flasche getrunken (Kauf bei Getränkefeinkost). Eigentlich heftiger Alkoholanteil. Ziemlich strong.

Bottle @McHendos (Zoltan Tasting). Pours brown, big white head. Nose licorice, fruity, apricots, dates and figs, slight caramel. Taste is very much the same but big pineapple. Also right at the end a touch sour.

UPDATED: SEP 13, 2017 W aromacie wiśnie w czekoladzie, estry, fenole, czerwone owoce.
