COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oerbier means original, from the spring. This beer has been brewed in small scale (5 gallons). Oerbier is brewed from no less than 6 malts. Poperinge Golding hops in flowers and a special yeast which makes it a little tart, especially with aging. At the brewery we have excellent cellars which have a constant temperature of 8°C and allow Oerbier to age at its best. After a couple of years Oerbier tastes like it should have been blended with wine … Oerbier has been refermented in the bottle and contains a layer of yeast, having vitamins B. NAT en STRAF on the glasses means WET and STRONG, a warning for the 7.5 vol. alcohol content. The little person on the glasses is the Oerbier man, a simple creature who holds a brewers fork in his right hand, symbolizing the work and science, but looking to the other side, the result of all this, the glass of (Oer)beer. The artwork on the poster is a wallpainting found in Spain, (Altamira) and is considered by art lovers as being the best prehistoric art work (30,000 years BC). On the other hand we have Oerbier started in 1980, going on with the tradition. For more information on Oerbier's recent recipe history, see the following article: http://www.bunitedint.com/Products/de_dolle/oerbier-re_evolution.html

Poured clear reddish amber with a good fizzy head. Fruity malt aroma, Flavor is malty cherry or other stone fruit. The body is light and the ABV deceptive. Just a hint of bitterness at the finish. Not bad but not a favorite style for me.

Very dark brown and reddish color with quite thick light brown head. Aroma is a bit tart and has ripe fruits, brown sugar, berries, cherries. Taste is malty with long fruity and a bit sour and dry aftertaste. Flavors of cherries, ripe fruits, berries, malt, red wine, some sour elements, caramel and chocolate. Nice combination of sour and sweet elements.

Bottle from Cork & Cask. Dense ruby body with a thin beige head. Good lacing. Aroma of cinnamon, apple pie, caramel and blueberry. Flavour of sour cherry and red apple. Medium body with a frothy mouthfeel. Lively fizz. There’s an unusual sour note but it’s a nice sipper.

Hazy brown. Tall ivory head. Perfect retention. Candy, caramel, dried fruit, pear, spicy yeast on nose. Medium to full body. High carbo. Nicely balanced. Lovely spicy yeast, caramel, toffee, candy, just right amount of hops. Alco absolutely away. Splendid

0.33 l bottle @ Akkurat, Stockholm. Red-Brown or black depending on the lighting, big head. Dark sweet malts with a sour ending. Tastes like a red dessert wine, which is not just sweet. Not as sour as the Flander oud bruin style, though. Nice for a dessert.

Almost black with ruby highlights. Aroma of treacle, liquorice, sasparilla. Very intriguing. Taste lighter than you’d expect. Notes of chocolate, dark fruit, dark caramel, and loads of liquorice that carries into the palate. Very nice.
