Thanks to Solan for the bottle. Pours with a lot of activity. Aroma is heavy on the oak, to the point of it being severe. Flavor is more of the same. Tons of oak. It tastes like it was left in the barrel for 15 months too long. A bite of vinegar accompanies the heavy oak. A dry finish with a bland cardboard maltiness. Perhaps we got a bad bottle, but the whole group I was with thought it was pretty bad, not just overrated.
Think this is closest to reserve 2000 (at least my memory of it). Hella flat pour. Aroma is wood, wine tang, booze, sweet goodness. Flavor is similar to aroma...complex af...barely any base beer left. So good. MrTipple (5956) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 21, 2017
Musty grapes, wood, funky red berries. Hazy brown, small, creamy, off-white head. Light bitter. More citrus fruits, wood, lemon peel, marmalade, soft carbonation, medium to full bodied. Bottle care of Tom Cadden. Opaque deep rich golden amber with very thin head. Nose is musty, orange, touch sour, damp cellar, spice, orange liqueur. Taste is orange bitter, little sour, tangy citrus, orange liqueur, citrus peel, slight damp cellar.

Bottle, picked up in Amsterdam by me and miles back in my suitcase and carefully stored for this special event: my 10,001st rating. Shared with my various tasting group members. Capped and corked, not a gusher, so good start (plus Lori says the cork smells like brown sugar!!). Medium orange-amber, pillowy white head. Beautiful aroma of cooked pears, maple syrup, candied orange, very reminiscent of a tawny port. The palate maintains the same oxidized notes (in a pleasant way), with a sultana sweetness and vinous complexity. The finish is tart and dry and woody. Just amazing. Thanks TimE for sharing the bottle! Poured into a taster showing half a finger of clean white foam showing moderately translucent dark orange.
The nose shows tart acetic notes with a light red wine notes of plums and blackberry.

Hazy medium amber color. Walking into a sauna with tons of cedar, sour, dried apricots and apple skins. Tons of stewed oranges stewed, apples, apple skins , mixed spices, dried fruit in the mouth, oaky finish. Super malty. For 12% this is fantastic. Just out of this world.
