33cl bottle at De Vlaamsche Reus, at Wageningen in the Netherlands (26 V 2016). The home beer of this cosy bar in Wageningen. A hazy amber with white foam. Yet not the best beer the bar has, I’m afraid. A blonde ale with a dash of grape juice, making this a brew with a true terrible nose. Lots of dust, cellar and muggy scents. Nothing more. A firm malt character, Belgian yeasted even, with an unpleasant nose, but a rather OK mouthfeel. Good bitter, sweets, malts balance. Christos (5792) - Arnhem, NETHERLANDS - DEC 11, 2014
(De Fontein Vlaamsche Reus Blond) Bottle 330 ml, from Secret Sinterklaas, thanks! It’s the home beer of De Vlaamsche Reus bar in Wageningen, funny how when I visited they were all out an a couple of weeks later I get it in a package! Into a tulip glass, ABV 6.1%
Clear orange colour on the body, tall and frothy white head, with average retention. Minimal lacing on the glass.
Aroma has nuts, fruits, apricot, malts and sugar.
Taste is also nutty, again some apricot and peach, light yeast.
Medium thin body, good carbonation.
It’s not really something special but it has a nice balance in it, making it very drinkable and enjoyable. TheJvd (1291) - NETHERLANDS - SEP 23, 2014
