Our double version of Bu Weisse, a spontaneously fermented interpretation of a Berliner Weisse. Fermented and aged in oak barrels, this batch was dry hopped to accentuate the lemon and citrus character in the base beer. Dry, crisp, sour and citrusy.

Shared at a tasting hosted by Steve Hackley on September 25. Thanks Steve! This was poured from a 750 mL bottle. The pour is a cloudy gold color with a big white head that falls down slowly, leaving some awesome lace. The aroma is great. There is a big funky citrus up front with a lot of lemon and orange. There is a little grassiness and a nice crisp tartness. I like the initial hoppiness that comes with this as well. Big juicy hops. There is a little yeast, and a bit of funk on the back end. The flavor is great. It’s like massive peach juice up front. There is a light sourness, and a good hop flavor. It’s still got that funkiness with a nice lemon sour. The mouth feel is light and crisp with a good carbonation, but it isn’t as tart as I would like on the finish. The aftertaste is lingeringly yeasty, with a light hop and a decent tartness. It’s good, but this has the potential to be amazing!

750, capped. Thanks, J! Damn. Pours a slightly hazy deep gold with a loose white head that lasts. Big sweet tangy nose, showing sweet lime, lemon zest, wet grass, salt, and orange peel. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Lemon, lime, orange, and a bit of saline tang on the mid palate. Crisp tangy finish.

Bottle... Pours murky and straw-colored with no head. The aroma offers grapefruit and a few light, musky and dank hop notes. Medium-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Moderately sour, vinous and bright with a tart, bready finish.

Bottle thanks to Justin in a trade. Pour is cloudy golden yellow with a small white head. Very handsome. Aroma is rustic with earthy and musty notes accompanied by light pine hop, lemon, and lactic acid. Really really nice. Flavor is tart and musty with rich earthy notes along with light hop and lemon. So good. Could drink for days.

[ Bottle ][ ½ of 75cl ][ Tasting ][ Trade ][ Tulip ][ 9.27.14 ]
Hazy gold, moderate effervescence, lasting large bubbled white head, no lacing. Grassy nose, light mint and dough , soapy alongside standard DG cleaning product, faint rubber, hops evident throughout. Clean, doughy front palate, lightly salty with minty elements mid, tons of citrus, punching soap with grain, very dusty. High effervescence, pungent soapy hops, fizzy body tingles all over the palate. Profile is not perfectly to style but the combo is a winner
