Of all the De Graal beers I’ve tried, this is the least enjoyable for me. The classic flavors of dried fruit, brown/candi sugar, and spice are present in smaller degrees, but what really stands out is red apple and a woodsy quality of dried leaves and old wood, and the apple turns to apple skin in the finish. Kind of a dreary flavor, and not exactly appealing. The nose is similar, with earthy, woodsy aromas as well as a bit of cheesiness. Medium in weight, medium in carbonation, and fairly dry, especially considering the style. Hazy, amber-brown body with half an inch of dark-tan head that fizzes down to a thin ring fairly quickly, leaving no lacing. Didn’t enjoy this one.

33cl bottle from the belgian years.
A malty sweet ale. Dark copper, caramel and licorice in nose, spicy, yeasty. Malt forward, overall sweet, fruity, caramel, some roasty.

Aroma sweet, chocolate, something off ( alcohol? DMS? ). Taste sweet chocolate, some caramel, fruity. Sweetness becoming a bit overpowering after a while, downright sugary even. Maybe best not to warm this one too much. Body both rather thin and a bit sticky. Feeling suddenly in the mood for stew.

Brown with small yellow head. Malty aroma. Taste with roasted caramel bitter with remarkable sourness of fruity and metallic taste, bit too watery.
