COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Straffe Hendrik Quadruple is a rich and intense dark Belgian ale. It is brewed with a subtle blend of specialty malts, which give the ale an extremely dark color and a chewy, malty complex character. The quadruple combines a clean dryness with a warm full bodied mouth feel and essences of fruit. Secondary fermentation in the bottle creates a living ale that can be aged and will have an evolution of taste profiles over time.

It is brewed by the last active brewery in the historical city of Bruges. The town archives first mention the brewery in 1546. Since 1856, the famous brewing family Maes-Vanneste has owned the brewery.

Roasted, caramel a bit of raisins, sweetish, despite of awareness of hops. Very decent smooth mouthfeel, kind a sticky, sugarish. Very well ballanced, I was kind a surprise, easy drinkable for 11 ABV brew

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2017 2-10-2017; botle; at home (bought at Saveur Bière, as part of their October discovery box).
What nice beer. The beer pours a nice layer of almond colored soft, but slightly rough foam. The beer has a beautiful dark ruby red color. There is some nice cloudiness to.
The smell is delicious. I smell dark red fruits, cherry, oak wood, roasted almonds and a warming alcohol smell. What a rich smell, a perfect beer for an autumn night. Malts take care of most sweet tones, whilst hops give a nice spicy bitterness. Some alcohol fills the nose, and some nice typical Belgian yeast company the alcohol lovely.
The taste is very good. There is a strong alcohol taste, very warming. I also taste some oak, cherry and almond. The malts are lovely, and give a lot of sweetness, but also a tiny caramel bitter touch. Hops give some nice spicy bitters. The yeast finishes it, with a nice creamy typical Belgian yeast taste. It makes the beer well balanced and all together it is very rich. Just what you expect from a Belgian specialty.
The palate of the beer is nice. Full body, smooth and a bit creamy and high carbonation. The finish contains some warming alcohol, together with some heavy hop bitters, caramel malts and creamy yeast. I like it.

Mooi donkerbruin bier. Heerlijk!

Got this bottle from @Beergium a few days ago and today it’s #friday so why not open it?

Best before May 2019 so it should be drinkable... ;)

The beer pours hazy, dark brown, nutty colour. Beige, fluffy, creamy, beige head.

Nose: Nuts, toffee, roasted caramel malt, molasses, raisin and candied sugar.

Taste: Oh! This is good! Again candied sugar, molasses, nuts, oak, spices, black pepper, brown sugar, raisin, dried fruit, almond, coffee and honey. The taste gives so much more than the nose! I’m impressed!

Mouthfeel: Creamy, soft, sweet and bitter. A bit alcohol warmth. Medium body. High carbonation.

A bottle of LOVE!

Within quadruple beers are three categories: the fantastic and essential; good, done with professionalism and craft but not wonderful; and you’d better not try to return them to cheat. This second type of beer. A good beer is a little excessive for the treatment of alcohol.
