Ar: Lemon, pear, and vanilla; oranges, a hint of cabbage; black pepper. Ap: Deep gold and hazy; medium very light tan head with good retention, settling into a thick cap of medium bubbles. T: Plum, orange, apricot, and green apple; medium-low sweetness and mixed pink and black peppercorns; bitterness is high, somewhat rough, with a leafy, zesty flavor; very clean alcohol, but warming; black currant; finish is peach skins, black pepper, and bitter orange. P: Medium body with very high carbonation; finish is very dry. O: A very impressive tripel; big emphasis on the spice, with esters taking a background spot; looks beautiful on the glass and feels perfect on the palante.

[email protected], from Alko Kaleva, Tampere, Finland. Strong, bit bitter nuances of yeasty fruits, honey and a hint of sweet malts. Balanced. Medium taste spectrum with medium aftertaste with yeasty fruits. Medium/light body with medium carbonation. Overall, clear and classy though a bit artificial. Could have more malty flavors.

330 ml bottle. Pours with a clear, golden color and a nice white head. Nose sweet malty, yeasty, some peach and unripe fruits, some herbs. Taste is slightly fruity with yeast and a nice bitter finish.

à la maison. Belle bière blonde - orangée , fortement houblonnée , légèrement amère . Aurait sous doute gagné à développer son côté sirupeux.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - 22-03-2019, from Alko, 20171020) The beer poured deep golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had grass, honey and Belgian style yeast. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grass, Belgian style yeast, honey, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was fruity, grassy and bitter. A nice clean tripel. Bit dull.

On tap. Golden orange, medium large white head. Aroma of yeast, malt, esters. Full body, not much alcohol. Flavor moderately sweet, banana, cloves, yeast, creamy malt. Objectively good not my favorite style.

Ik heb het niet voor te zoete tripels, Straffe Hendrik houdt mooi het zoet/bittere in evenwicht. Daar kunnen vele andere tripels jaloers op zijn. Degelijke tripel

UPDATED: SEP 14, 2017 Tasted a lot of beers on my visit to Belgium, but this managed to secure it's spot as my favorite. Just the right balance between mild bitterness and slight sweetness, with a wonderful very foamy head and a lot of depth and interest. Very strong, compared to the non-belgian beers I'm used to, but it just adds to the character of the beer. Even the design of the glass and bottle is beautiful. Love it!

Dark orange with thick white head. High in carbonation. Apple and orange dominates the fruity aroma. The taste follows, with the delicate yeastines so typical of triples. Some sweetness at the end, balanced with bitterness. Great triple beer!

JaKeAFC (1330) - ITALY - AUG 26, 2017
UPDATED: AUG 26, 2017 Bottle at the brewery, poured a bit warm to me. Amber color, clear with a little sediment, massive offwhite head. Interesting bouquet of flowers spices and spirit. Aroma classic tripel lot og grains biscuits, almonds, brandy/sherry, hazelnuts together with currant, brown sugar and candy orange. Lots of hops and belgian yeast. Taste is full, powerful, heavy and matches with the ABV, sugary and bitter, punchy and tangy. Body is full, complex, extreme carbonation which releases a lot of gas if excited, fluffy foamy texture. Finish is sharp, aromatic, burning, long with a yeasty/starchy leftover. Massive tripel, strong and serious stuff.
