Note that this is likely not a retired beer. The bottle says something like "returned by popular request". ABUSEDGOAT (2833) - California, USA - DEC 17, 2005
Pours a chunky light brown with a decent head. Lots of floaters in this one (trub). Maybe my pour was tad agressive? Roasted malt and fruit on the nose with a touch of hops. Bitter on the tongue with a sugar cane malty body (kinda roasty) and a touch of spicy hop in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium light with a fair fizz. A bit of lacing on the glass. Seems to reveal more of a hop bitter character as I near the bottom of the glass and the brew warms a bit. Not a bad brew but I favor many other Belgians over this one.
I don’t think this is retired. Anyway... clear reddish brown body with a small head. Caramel and sugar all the way with aroma and flavor. I actually liked the regualar version better. This felt too thin and alcholic. 7 of these stupid things left... SSSteve (4006) - - NOV 3, 2005
white grape sparkling wine aroma. grapefruit. orange color. more yeast chunks than i have ever seen floating around. minimal white head. kind of sour and citrusy. this may have gone bad. MesandSim (7117) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 20, 2005
A Mes rate:
Pretty decent. Shame they changed it in favour of the new version which is not quite as good. Very red amber colour. Plenty of caramel and brown sugar. Lovely palate. Strong hops in the finish turning more bitter as it goes on. Not bad at all Emil (6064) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - AUG 29, 2005
Bottle. Amber colour with a white head. Dark fruits aroma and taste, light sweet. Medium body and a sweet finish.

RBESG05: Old nose, cardboardy, a little woody. Some dark fruits there too. Dark gold in colour. Sweet caramel, fruits and alcohol, but still refreshing. joergen (29007) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - AUG 21, 2005
Bottled at RBESG 2005.
Orange coloured with an off white head.
Aroma of dried fruits and wood.
Flavour of wood with some sweetness and notes of fruits and dried fruits. madsberg (11776) - Søborg, DENMARK - AUG 15, 2005
Bottled @ RBESG 2005: Orange/amber colourd. Light unclear. No head. Aroma is "old". Some prunes and raisins in the nose. Very sweet and sherrylike flavour. Some distinct alcoholnotes. Ends on a somewhat spiced fruitiness. Dixen (1465) - Flagstaff, Arizona, USA - AUG 15, 2005
Bottle @ RBESG2005. Quite old bottle. Moldy and acidic nose, quite oxidized. Dark amber body, small white head. Sweet flavor, with some nice fruityness, ends slightly alcoholic. OutHouseDilemma (70) - Crowley, Texas, USA - JUN 6, 2005
11.2oz bottle..... poured into a glass.
Nice spice/wood smell. Very murky light brown beer. Lots of floaties even after a very slow pour. Small lace head.
Yeast spice with mellow fruit abroad.
Alc is almost not there, very well hidden. The warm after taste reassures the 8% abv is there.
Great brew other than the floaties.....
I didnt know it was retired. Had I known that I would have picked up the rest of the 4 pack.
